Is there a simple way to compare my performance to some metric like a S&P 500 index fund? I'm up 25% (which includes dividends) since March 17, the Vanguard ETF's stock price for the same period is up 18%, but I was wondering if there's some webapp or program that I can use to calculate the dividend I would have gotten if I were invested in the index instead of me looking up dividend payouts for the period.

Or another question: generally how much do I have to "beat" the S&P annually to make for the tax disadvantage of most of my stocks not being held for a year+?

Can someone explain this option scenario?

Let’s say I buy 25 contracts of company A, at $17. The trading price right now is $14. The expiration is 6/15. I understand that if my contracts don’t reach $17 by 6/15, they will expire worthless and I will lose all my money. But let’s say it hits $18, before expiration.

Would I be able to sell my contracts for profit at that moment? Also, what if I believe they will go higher than the $18, I hold and they will increase in value? Let’s say they reach $20 on 6/15. Do I have to sell my contract or can I let it expire and it will give me my profit automatically?

Sort of a tangent, but I still think that the cop killing Daniel Shiver (https://www.chicagotribune.com/nation-world/ct-daniel-shaver-police-video-20171208-story.html)) was more disturbing than almost all the jogger deaths. Knee on throat is a pretty graphic image, for sure, plus the fact that it's a white dumpy looking cop doing the damage to a black guy.

Shiver's death was harrowing though. If he had been black and it happened in some Jogger city like LA Chicago or Detroit there would have been Minneapolis-tier chimp outs, no doubt in my mind.

Whites in the United States are pretty docile. Minorities are more prone to civil unrest but end up being useful idiots for politicians/corporations/causes that co-opt their chimp-outs. It's literally already happening with Minneapolis.

counterpoint: by end of market on Friday barely anything had burned down.

I think the riots spread last night to more cities than what was priced in.
We'll have to see where we are at by the end of the weekend, we still have tonight and tomorrow night to see if this thing is going to get more explosive or if it's going to fizzle out.

how many of these people 'protesting' are collecting unemployment checks and the federal chinaflu payments, I wonder?

I hope something is done about it.

When I see these crowds of hundreds or thousands of people in dozens of different cities going out and causing trouble, I just see millions of dollars of my tax dollars being wasted. Taxpayers are paying the welfare for all of these people to stay around and pay their rent checks and buy food with stamps. It's a mess.

Many, just based on statistical probability on the number of people involved. I believe these riots have been exacerbated by the fact that a big chunk of the formerly semi-employed, now unemployed, are bored and believe they have nothing better to do than participate in riots to pass the time.

It’s also that people are scared and angry. Many know they’re not getting their jobs back, many know their life plans just took a detour and opportunity for their future is drying up.

And we’ve known for decades that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, and more and more people are pissed off about that. But no one has a real answer except try not to be the ones getting poorer.

Be patient with the airlines! They are currently trading in a range where some risk of chapter 11 on some airlines is expected. Chapter 11 filing itself is not priced in, just the risk. Anyway, with JETS you're betting on the whole whack of them to eventually recover overall. Take the opportunity to cost average if it comes.

I found the video:
https://twitter.com/Gingersonfire/status/1266884385854255104

This is pure larp. The man doesn't know how to use that bow at all, probably borrowed it. Has never shot it before.
>ye olden 90's era compound bow
>he's holding it upside down*
>he's not using a release aid*
Regarding holding upside down and lack of release aid:
-on the lower half of the string you will see a second piece of material that looks like a loop. This is rubber tubing used to align the peep site on these older compound bows. That is supposed to be on the upper half of the string as it's the part you align your eye with to aim down the sight.
>speaking of the sight, note that it is below his left hand. Held upright it would be above left hand.
>directly above his left hand, what may look like an arrow shelf at casual glance is in fact the grip, where his left hand should be if he were holding the bow right way up and correctly.
-this is a short compound bow with an axle to axle measurement probably somewhere around 32"-35". Compound bows this short cannot be shot without a mechanical release aid in the right hand as the angle of the string at full draw does not allow space for fingers.

Thank you for reading my archery autism blog. It's a hobby of mine and I give a small amount of a shit about its mainstream representation.

I know you're thinking in hunter terms but it's entirely possible and not that hard to fire a bow, especially a compound with its draw assistance, with a pinch grip around the nock
Not a good strategy for sustained fire and your thumb will eventually bruise, but it's fun for fucking around with during target practice.

Nah, that mindless BDSM style disciplinarian stuff is why conservativism fell out of favor. A better tactic would be to actually instill a sense of morality in kids, and only hit them when they actually do something immoral, and explain that it's because it was immoral, and how it was immoral. But that would require the average principal, teacher or parent to actually have a sense of morals and not just overrely on "common sense" and cultural unity.
