A few years of consolidation later and suddenly facebook/twitter/etc. are fully integrated into the intelligence-police state under government cover and the most vocal opponents of freedom restrictions have been cheering it on the entire time because "their guy" started it. The liberal plebs are already on board with authoritarianism in the name of social justice, so now the other side of the false divide have to be brought in by antagonizing them and then providing them a controlled opposition messiah.

The company itself isn't a great investment but they have EXCELLENT prototyping facilities that should keep churning prototypes and concepts left and right for the viral effect.

Been them since Early April because one of the pick-up consultants shilled them on the Hoonigans stream(Ken Block gymkhana fame).

They will have good pull with the petrolheads. And Oil companies(XOM, CVX, SHEL) will like the logistical aspect of Hydrogen, contrary to electricity where they are useless.
Plus they have voint ventures with Bosh and IVECO.

Cons: They have little to no IP.

you can try timing it, but the better strategy is usually to DCA. here's an example.
I really like JPM, and I like it under $100, but i don't like buying it above $90. so whenever i'm about to do my periodic buy of JPM, I boost the amount that I buy when it's under $90. I boost it a lot under $85, and I will buy a ton of it under $75. Since i had a bigger pile than i wanted yesterday, I sold some of the JPM that i picked up around $80. does this help?

>Why not just start throwing a set amount into Acorns?
>then maybe get a few shares of strong individual stocks?
I can do this myself and better manage my risk profile. I don't broadly like bonds really... even though I'm collecting and allocating to etfs. can you check what grade of bonds are in the acorns portfolio? their turnover rate in the funds held? can you get etfs that cover only large cap equities or are you stuck with broad market? can you find a small cap fund for when the time is right? can you control your income so that you don't have additional tax liabilities?
I agree with the idea of picking a few etfs to act as a core and then putting emphasis on certain sectors. It's what I would normally do, but I like having the flexibility of more effectively managing my risk. Whether I'm actually good enough to do it where it pays off is a different question, but I'm absolutely for attempting to prevent myself from losing money from stupid (read: risky) investments or getting unnecessary exposures.

>Twitter censors the President of the United States

Publisher not a platform. Time to throw them in prison for the 10 TB of child pornography and terrorist threats they have published since their inception. A large technology corporation cannot and will not censor our elected officials and then claim the benefits of an "impartial platform".

This is outrageous. Such large corporations are the subordinates, not the superiors, to our republican form of government. To interfere with communication between an elected official and his constituents is sabotage of not only the democratic process, but the essential operations of the government and national security. Esp. when the communications concern the policy of the President of the United States and Natl. Guard towards looters in an area of civil disorder.

The infrastructure Twitter and Facebook have built are vital for the dissemination of information by the government and government officials. These actions should be treated as if a television network cut off a federal emergency broadcast. In what country are corporations not expected to respect their host government?

>What if people stop using social media
That's essentially an impossibility. The masses are too dumb, brainwashed, and chemically manipulated to be capable of exercising that sort of control over themselves. Similarly, they won't gravitate toward decentralized social media because part of the appeal of social media is being part of the largest collective.

However, even in the case where people might develop the will to stop using social media, the system of control is implementing ways to force it on people. A social credit system wasn't something pioneered by China, but rather they adopted the next step beyond the big data aggregation and manipulation used by corporations in the West. Credit scoring is the most concrete example, and of course now there is the example of businesses checking out potential employee social media profiles to make hiring decisions. Something like LinkedIn formalizes the process. Social credit score based decision making already exists in our countries, but it's a bit more obfuscated at this point.

Government intervention in social media is one of the steps toward solidifying a social credit system and bringing it out into the open. People who would otherwise oppose this process and howl on about things like "duh mark of duh beast" will instead support it because of how the narrative has been laid out for them.

>Rockefeller, JP Morgan, Vanderbilt

These men actually built the country and did not attempt to subvert it for communistic ends. The so-called "monopolists" of the 19th Century weren't handed monopolies by the government, but simply beat most of their competitors by doing business better, to the overwhelming benefit of the public. The "anti-trust" legislation was the result of socialist seething as to their success.

Facebook and Twitter are monopolies, but that's because they simply do business better. They've brought billions of dollars of capital into the country, created thousands of jobs, and given our nation control of the international internet technology market. To 'break them up' or punitively regulate them out of existence would be self-defeating and only benefit the budding tech sector of our friends the Chinese.

Twitter and Facebook need to be brought in line with social norms, nothing more and nothing less. You do not shut up elected officials. You do not prevent elected officials from communicating with their constituents. Whatever they do beyond that, though subversive, is better combated through the adoption of decentralized social media platforms.

And they've announced anti-trust actions being brought against Alphabet, the Google parent company. Yet people are still running it up in valuation. Buying before a bankruptcy is the only thing dafter than buying up a company at all time highs that is about to get broken up and/or fined massively.
