Yeah it's easy for me to say, knowing the guy died, that he shouldn't have been doing that.

I have the audio muted, but how powerfully did he really shout it? It's a lot easier to breathe out than it is to breathe in, and once you start choking you really start panicking. It's been a while since I've been seriously choked but I remember it being very alarming.

It bothers me that cops have no problem smashing people's faces into the asphalt like that. Maybe I'm soft but I don't think that's right. I just know that if some bitch got indignant and pretended I assaulted her or something, they'd have no problem slamming my face into the ground and putting the knee in.

Ok my friend, let me pop a theory to you.

DAL does great! Just keeps trucking, doing their thing.

But AAL, who runs out of cash in Aug, goes under. Their planes get liquidated, which reduces the value of all planes on DALs books. With fewer Assets under management (and no income on those assets unless you think air travel is gonna come roaring back by Aug), they can't issue new senior notes, cannibalized by old senior notes. It sounds possible, right?

Damn. Credit Suisse are the only analysis I've come across thaat doesn't seem like shit. But check out their price target accuracy...

Maybe I need /g/ to understand this shit...

>Remembering Why We Are Secular Memory Bulls...
>Cyclical dynamics have a way of accentuating secular trends at peaks and obfuscating them at troughs. Given that it now appears we are approaching the latter, we thought it might be helpful to outline why we have been secular bulls on memory since 2015. Our discussion will be heavily text-based – but throughout the report we have charts which illustrate several key themes.
Any bullish thesis in memory needs a solid Supply foundation – While managements enjoy discussing demand drivers – the next new thing, content growth, buzz words – it has been our experience that any bullish view on memory needs to be grounded in supply. Supply is more tangible and analyzable, especially because demand is always strongest when it’s being significantly overstated – i.e., customers are building inventory.
>Relative to supply, the secular thesis is fairly straightforward as scaling has become more difficult, each successive node transition is leading to fewer incremental bits per wafer and a flattening cost curve. This has continued to be the case in DRAM as cost-downs have declined from what was ~25% per year to what we now see as ~8% per year.

No malice, but I thought as much. You should look into what happened to the airline industry after 9/11. Dig into what's happening now with their staff reductions once the CARES money runs out and their forward (lack of) guidance. Now is not the time to buy airlines.
>Last time it was this bad was in 1930s.
Then why are you in equities at all right now?

>>19398588
Fairly straightforward. Reducing the basic building block of memory used to bring cost savings AND density scaling. That means you could save money because your density increased, meaning your chip size decreased, and you could produce more chips per batch. We're hitting a roadblock now where you can still scale, but the costs are being driven up due to how technological challenging scaling of the basic building blocks of integrated circuits can be. Meaning, you're now only getting incremental improvements in density, meaning incremental reductions in chip size, and the cost isn't really decreasing. Hence, a quasi-secular headwind to the industry.

And stocks. Can't forget that.

>> No.19398755 [DELETED]

The fundamental root of all communism is rage against the natural order — the natural order of hierarchy. It is a rage that by obsession boils black inside the breast and turns itself into a spiritual perversion which compels its victim not to abolish hierarchy wherever it be found, but to actually invert all existing pyramids of hierarchy, and thereby achieve a sense of justice and revenge.

Natural law dictates that the few shall rule over the many, the few shall have most and the many have less, the few shall be virtuous and the many be vicious. The communist-in-spirit desires that the many rule over the few, the many have most and the few have less, and that vice should be virtue and virtue vice. The great irony is that these dramatic transformations, once enacted, are self-defeating and lead directly back to the natural order, but at a devolved and inferior level.

When the many have power over the few, those who have power are the few most able to manipulate the many. When the many have most and the few have less, those who have most are the few most able to get from the many. When virtue is vice and vice is virtue, the catastrophes of vice make true virtue self-evident.

Look to Rhodesia and South Africa, where the white "oppressors" were driven out — only to make room for a black oligarchy. Look to the Soviet Union, Cuba and Maoist China, where the "capitalist pigs" were divested — only to make room for a political elite who would manipulate the country's resources for their needs and grand visions. Look to the many parts of Europe — where the end of the family and embrace of extramarital relations will soon lead to societal implosion if not corrected.

Nature cannot be overthrown, and she will triumph in the end, the inferior orders erected by the communists-in-spirit replaced by superior orders in due time. That much is reassuring. But the cost is almost too heavy to bear, as by the time it is done, we may slide back a thousand years in time.

As an aside, not everyone follows the semiconductor roadmap for scaling, meaning comparisons of technology nodes between companies isn't always accurate. For example, TSMC are typically a node or half node behind Intel in real dimensionality scaling (not marketing material), e.g. their 10nm is more similar to Intel's 14 in when reverse engineered and examined on the transistor level. There are other technical issues involved with scaling, like power consumption and heat dissipation, which are two key limiting factors right now, but they don't directly impact the cost per se to the same extent dimensionality scaling does.

When you talk about materials, understand that different materials suit different chips for different markets (consumer vs defense) or uses. For the consumer market, all of the other alternatives are too costly (or suffer from technical challenges) right now except for germanium or silicon-germanium alloys. There are some technical hurdles to pure germanium, but it's still the most likely candidate going forward. Intel's plan is to push silicon as far as it can go, at least out to 7 nm.

Thanks, but that's
and it's only the first 200 words of the 2000 word document. And I'm not sure if that's a headwind for them, since I would think that would put a limit on supply? Because they need more chips to fulfill the same needs.

Oh maybe not, check it out:

>Bit/wafer growth is once again slowing: In NAND, flattening cost curves dominated the transition from 2D to 32L 3D as bits/wafer remained the same, however, there was a significant re-acceleration from 32L to 64L as incremental bits per wafer doubled – a significant driver of the oversupply in NAND in 2018/2019. Importantly, now that the industry is transitioning to 9xL and for each successive generation – incremental bit growth/wafer is once again declining – 32L to 64L was 100% increase, 64L to 9xL will be 50%, 9xL to 12xL will be 33% etc. This is an extremely important dynamic which we continue to believe the market has not fully grasped or appreciated.
>Moore’s Law also increases bit capacity: While a flattening cost curve might be viewed as negative for profitability/margins, we would remind investors that in Semis, the same mechanism that lowers costs also increases capacity. Starting in the late 1990s thru 2015 when Moore’s Law was accelerating, 300 mm fabs were becoming more productive, cycle times were declining and cost curves were steepening. Any benefits from lower cost were more than lost to accelerating supply growth and corresponding negative impact to ASPs. We see flattening cost curves as indicative of more rational/constrained supply and fundamentally better thru cycle pricing.
>Demand elasticity won’t drive supply growth: The best concern/retort to our thesis is the impact that better pricing might have on LT bit growth – i.e., price elasticity has been a key driver of memory content growth and when memory pricing increases OEMs are likely to respond by de-spec’ing as they have done before in the PC and handset markets. While we have sympathy for ...

>... While we have sympathy for this concern (especially for NAND which we view as more elastic), we would make several counter-points:
>1) DRAM is more inelastic than elastic, especially in the cloud. The primary function of DRAM is to keep a processor fed – when processors are mostly contained in PCs, tablets, handsets where applications are “good enough” and utilization are low – i.e., processors are not eating often. DRAM content has a low ceiling; however, when you move processing power to the cloud, hyperscalers’ primary economic driver is utilization – the more highly they can utilize the datacenter, the more profitable they will be. High utilization means processors want to eat all the time – increasing DRAM becomes a point of leverage at any price.
>2) We have yet to see the impact of AI/ML workloads on DRAM demand – these workloads are extremely memory/DRAM intensive. There is no cognition without memory. The DGX2, NVDA’s ML server – has a maximum configuration of 1.5 TB of DRAM versus the average server of just 50 MB – while the DGX2 has ~1/2 the processing power of the human brain (btw the DGX2 needs 3200 watts, the brain 32 watts – ie biology is still multiple orders of magnitude more efficient), the human brain still has been 100-300x the memory capacity of the DGX2. Most all of the private start-ups in semis are focused on solving the memory wall.
>3) NAND is clearly driven by elasticity and a longer-term flattening of the cost curve likely put downward pressure on LT NAND demand assumptions of 30-40% -- however, we see a significant upgrade cycle coming in handsets in 2H20/2021 – as 5G phones become more readily available. Data would suggest that consumers are delaying their upgrades and that the installed base of handsets is 12-18 months older than it was just a few years ago. Even without a killer app we see 5G as a catalyst for consumer to upgrade.

Interesting note from their "bottom line" section:
>We see MU as well-positioned to benefit from LT trends that the current COVID crisis continues to codify/accelerate– WFH, SFH, On-Line Everything, Data Analysis, 5G, AI/ML, and Accelerating Compute TAM. MU currently trades at 5.8x NTM EV/EBITDA, below its 4 trough average of ~6.7x – note that F2Q was the 13th consecutive Q of +FCF w/ cross cycle GM/EBITDA/ROIC of +40%/+50%/20% – clearly indicative of a structural improving model. We reiterate our Outperform rating and $90 PT (~2.5x P/B FTM – top quartile average) – we see downside at 1.2x book, or ~$39, implying $4 of upside for every $1 of downside – the best Risk/Reward in Semis.
>we see downside at 1.2x book, or ~$39, implying $4 of upside for every $1 of downside – the best Risk/Reward in Semis.
That's very bullish, if possible.

>We already have this so what's your point?

The goal of communism is to invert natural pyramids of hierarchy as an act of emotional revenge, but these measures will always be self-defeating because their attempted inversions will inevitably create a new, inferior pyramid by the old pattern.

You place power in the hands of the many, it actually belongs to the few most able to manipulate the many. You place resources in the hands of the many, they actually belong to the few most able to control those resources. You glorify the vices of the many, vicious nations destroy themselves and true virtue is revealed.

The new hierarchies established by the communists-in-spirit are almost always inferior because they do not consider the merits of a hierarchy as it stands, but are driven by perversion, an obsessive-compulsive desire to invert hierarchy even if the elements at the bottom truly are worse than those at the top. This explains why they were so insistent on not just ending the various racial restrictions in South Africa and Rhodesia and colonialism in Angola and Mozambique, but actually establishing total and immediate black rule in those countries, even when it would appear to anyone with a thinking mind to be wholly detrimental to both white and black. This explains why they are so insistent on furthering acceptance of deviant lifestyles even when it would appear to anyone with a thinking mind that these lifestyles are detrimental to those who practice them and society as a whole.

The communists-in-spirit are not rational, they are driven by this peculiar perversion. An understanding of it is essential in identifying them and explaining their actions.

They've essentially outlined what I did but in language that's more specific to the field, and in particular, the NAND space, which saw a recent major change in the architecture of their transistors so as to achieve increased device density and increased bit capacity. They also made an important point regarding the ability of semi companies to tune their fabrication process flows, improving yield and reducing costs, as time goes on. But, just like there are limits to scaling, there are limits to the above, in the same vein as my other post.

The rest outlines usage models for why the traditionally cyclical memory market might see some secular tailwinds. Note that they make the distinction between DRAM and NAND flash, which is important. I entered/exited an MU position back on a cyclical bottom a few years back. If you're think of opening a position, I'd recommend consider treating it as a cyclical trade.

But not everyone knows the 'why', and what the target of communist subversion really is : hierarchy. The communists try to play it off as a dry economic theory or a utopian/utilitarian ideal or claim to be 'progressives' and not communists but all that talk merely veils a deep-seated contempt for hierarchy, a perverse communism in spirit. Which threatens our nation and indeed all the nations of the world because merit-based hierarchy is the foundation of a functioning society.

Next time you hear AOC talk about the need for a 70% income tax and open borders and the need to chop your son's cock off and stop toxic masculinity just know where she's really coming from and what her goals really are : the inversion of the capitalist mode of production, the inversion of American demographics, and the inversion of Western virtue. It's not from the kindness of her heart that she says these things. It's from deep-seated hate for any established hierarchical system. That is the defining trait of communism-in-spirit, and it explains why these people hate not just one or two established hierarchies, but quite literally every one they encounter with little or no inquiry or thought. They have a compulsive need to pervert and destroy, and that is also why no matter what you give them to maintain a hierarchy, it is never enough. They will dog you to the last.

South Africa allowed several black African homelands ripe with mineral and agricultural resources to secede and enjoy full sovereignty. Yet for the "international community", at that point in the 70s completely run by communists-in-spirit, and for the "anti-Apartheid activists", almost all communists-in-spirit and many such as Nelson Mandela card-carrying members of the Communist Party, this wasn't enough. They were only satisfied by the establishment of complete, uncontested black African rule over every inch of South Africa and the absence of even a single white State on the African continent. A total inversion.

Sorry if that is what you learned in school, you never had desires to overcome your limitations set by this time in your society.
You never should read the books the give, you should read more. All the ones I picked up and said the damn thoughts I wondered but never heard aloud, are socialist/communist.
K kid, what have I said that is wrong? Just because you've never heard it? Based on different facts you've have considered?
Why mention the con man trump?
Obama was trash, don't tell me things I know.
Voters do vote by our binary system and that shows how little Americans can comprehend, and if all minorities voted, no Republican would ever win, and yes power and oppression, make the damn voting happen by phone or by canvas, follow other nations, not by secluded, faulty polling booths, listen to the absurdity of that.

Politics has almost less to do with the economy than the stock market, at least on day to day time scales. TARP was probably the most significant piece of legislation over the past decade which has funneled so much money into equities nearly decoupled from corporate profits or GDP.
It is not a joke to say that the Fed chairman has been more powerful than the president in terms of the economy since the 90s

So rather than buy industrials like CAT or BA or something, maybe build out a position in MU?

Did you keep tabs on them? Do they have any major rivals or production issues or something I should be aware of?

Tell your congressmen to tax companies not you little guy. I'll tell you when you're older what to say, ok?

The racial prejudice hate is coming back stronger, now accusatory of mirroring his own racial hate. Profitability? dont care, there is more than enough money out there, forget your special tax base. Listen to your last statement, now you say it is unfair to fix the game because you feel superior in playing it. Well this game has been trash for many decades, and many smarter and funnier, and thoughtful folks are saying, lets try the same style but better. And the tantrum you are throwing is not enjoyable.

Shows how little the thought you have put into this mate, it is not a racial thing, it is not a money thing, it is about a community of individuals, acknowledging their differences, not as 'race' but as purely unfathomably never unstandable. I will never 'thankfully' think your thoughts and I respect that over any little pussy issue you think is important.

Not that I'm aware of. Their JV with Intel into the X-point (read Cross-point) memory architecture should start returning dividends now, even if it was a bit of a bumpy ride. Depending on how well the market adapts to phase change memory, maybe it could push out from the server space into enthusiast, like Intel's enthusiast processor line (essentially a server processor). I'm not sure who has the IP or the legality or royalties involved, but I can't imagine Micron being left out of the cut.

>Rivals:
Too many to count. The memory space is full of your major players and then cheap Chinese shit which smaller brands use as an extra revenue stream. It's one reason there's regular downward pressure on the industry, the pricing competitiveness, I think. That said, Micron is the major player in memory, along with Samsung.

it's dumping. On previous days we'd see any sell offs immediately countered by huge green dildos.

Green dildo bleeding out? GREEN DILDO HIGHER. etc.

The nights where you'd see none of this action we'd see large sell offs during the day.
However now we're seeing huge red dildos. Abnormally huge ones actually with honestly no pumping.

Gamma flip is a freaky options blowout from MMs losing control of their covvie hedges, where net long exposure violently becomes short in a way they don't want. Necessitates massively selling /ES to keep covered. I don't fully understand how it works but it seems distinctly possible, apparently it's common practice for MMs to enter huge collars selling covvies and buying OTM puts, when we blast through those levels they're caught unawares and can't escape without big sells

The important thing is that we wiped out all of the day's gains and then some of yesterday's gains in like 30 minutes. That's amazing in terms of sudden selling.

If it was a bleed out at 12pm all the way to closing, yeah sure, but 30 minutes? The day of the week has nothing really to do with anything. We've seen 3%+ gap ups on Fridays for no reason.

Also my post was talking about futures movement but I should have been specific.

To keep it short and sweet, it's bringing in emotional rationale into an arena where it doesn't need to be.

Counterpoint to expand: a company takes on egregious debt loads to facilitate share repurchase instead of long term growth, thus marking an inefficient use of capital and providing less economic benefit to the US and the company's employees. Now, a downturn happens and it gets caught with its pants down. Why not short it? Make money on the upside and downside. Money is money. And, if you did want to bring in emotional rationale, if those corporations are inefficiently utilizing capital to the detriment of the US economy, fuck 'em. Particularly so if they're abusing debt on the knowledge that they'll get bailed out.

SPY isn't a stock though, it's the ETF for the aggregate of the largest 500 companies in the US, and it updates regularly to remove the companies that are failing and add the ones that are succeeding.

It's not just emotional, it's also rational. It's generally not a good bet to bet against the future of the US economy using puts. Especially when the government, including the treasury, president, and senate, and the central bank have been given a blank check by the voter, and are all on the same side during an election year.

Realistically even if he copied and pasted a piece from the Jacobin into his Twitter 140 characters at a time he'd still be accused of dogwhistle racism. You're not even wrong that he's picking up racism approval points by complaining about "thugs", but if he dodges the word, anything he says (or is silent on) will be used to stir the pot the exact same amount, so the shrewd play is just to say it anyway in line with his image. Look into the relationship between a strong dollar and commodity prices. Then compare a core commodity index with DXY. Also hink about what happens in currency markets as different regions/central banks print at different rates relative to their GDP.

>>19400995
Money velocity is decreasing. Fiscal stimulus will be insufficient, simply based on the GDP loss, the sustained unemployment and corresponding loss of labor income (estimated to be $1 trillion), the insolvency of SMBs and households, the near term changes in consumer behavior, and how slow and inefficient the process is in the first place. Simply put, you can't print corporate revenues from people not spending/lack of aggregate demand, which is a real possibility we face right now. That last part is a major weakness that no amount of Fed jawboning or Presidential tweeting can resolve. Hence, there's a case to short.

On top of that, there are structural issues that people with skin in the game don't want to own up to. The backstopping of the credit market will be discussed for years to come, I imagine, as to its necessity. One inadvertant side effect is that it could prolong the life of zombie companies, which as of late were already pushing near 20% of US companies, and cause market distortions. This itself will mark a (further) inefficient use of capital and hamper growth of the real economy. However, more pressing now is an issue of credit tightening, which we've already begun to see playout as lenders seek to minimize their exposure to potentially poor debtors and mitigate the risk of loss.

But wait, there's more! Pension funds in the US are vastly underfunded, and governance has been lacking in ways very similar to those mentioned above. As more and more start to fail, the Fed might be forced to step in in a similar manner so as to prevent civil unrest.

So, we'll have zombie companies, zombie pension funds. We are so far beyond the point of moral hazard now it's comical.
