Microsoft used to insist it would never offer dividends. plenty of companies insist they never will. then one day their cashpile is so large that their investors are basically able to demand it, and the executives cant make any excuses. Or, in a situation thats more relevant in 2020: stock buybacks. thats what all these big boys do. even if AMZN never ends up issuing dividends (I think it will), its guaranteed that AMZN will one day pursue largescale stock buybacks, basically shoring up its own price and rewarding all the boomer investors.
