Most overnight successes take 7-10 years. Learn copywriting (salesmanship in print). Learn salesmanship. Learn marketing/advertising -> copywriting.

Highly suggest doing something from home. Initially, funds should go almost exclusively towards advertising. If ads don't pay for themselves, something needs to change. Ads need to turn to sales or you're dead. Forgot about getting the word out, building a brand, word of mouth... it's all meaningless if you can't get 1 person to give you their money.

Pick a business opportunity that sounds interesting. Try it. Pick something with a system (marketing, ads, scripts, direction) and APPLY it. Don't try to be creative at all at first. Just be a bot. You may proscrastinate or feel fearful. It's normal. Just do it anyway because whether you do it and fail, or don't do it, it's the same. Except doing ut is better. Because you will at least learn something. You will learn by doing. So do it.

Gary Halbert, John Carlton, Scientific Advertising by Claude Hopkins, Tested Advertising Methods by John something I forget right now, Eugene Schwartz. These are good starting poi ts and should keep you busy for awhile.

If at first you don't succeed...

It's boring. Even success can be boring. May not be what you envisioned. Systems-working the system-tweaking the system-optimizing-repetitive actions-consistency.

Good luck.

Realize 100k/year is a dream for 95% of the population. It's a lot of money really. Don't need to make bazillions a year to "make it."

sure, i've started a few in silicon valley, i'm merv.tech guy (merv isn't a business though, its just for my favorite mongolian basket auctioning imageboard)

first learn that those business magnates who you read about in the news are the 0.00001%

if your plan is to hit their level by just being lucky, then go ahead and just start a business blindly

if instead you come to the rational point that you should not depend on luck, then there are a few things for you to do if you want to succeed
