Well you have enough saved up to not have to live with your parents if you want. That says a lot. You could move in with roommates and NEET for a long time as you look for a job with your degree. I'm 25 now and my biggest regret in your situation was not getting a wagie job while looking for a job in my degree, it sucked for me when people asked what I was doing and I was living with my parents with no job. Took about 8months of hard work to get a solid big boy job. Before that it was easy to get depressed .

Happy birthday, go kick some ass this year.

I was in a similar spot at 21. Got a 2 year degree in the Arts, wanted to go to big school to study after but realised I was damning myself to debt for rest of my life with no job guarantee. Stayed at home for like a year, depressed as fuck. I had terrible anxiety.

My only skills were English, philosophy, art and music lol. I felt like I was screwed.

Probably the worse year of my life sitting at home playing counter strike and jerking off like a loser. At least I got the top rank.

Anxiety and depression got worse and I thought I was going to end myself. Eventually tried out a weekend security job. Pretty hard for my NEET ass but I got used to it. 2 days a week was a nice start on a job where I spent most of my time alone. Then moved on to just take a plumbing job; completely out of my element, but I realised there was no way it was harder than dealing with hobos in security.

Quit the security job, became a plumber. I ended up being the best apprentice in the company. CEO took notice of me and made an effort to know me. Accumulated 20k after working for about 2 years, started studying the fuck out of finance, money, macroeconomics.

I realised a massive recession was incoming. I cashed up, and now that the recession is here I'm investing in sectors that'll do well in the coming years. And I have a goal I'm working towards to be able to secure my parents' retirement. My dads like 67 and still breaking his back everyday to work since my mother bankrupted the family. Breaks my heart every day, and desu I don't even like my Dad, but at least I have something I'm fighting for now.

The anxiety is still here at half levels, depressions completely gone. It took just a bit of time but it's amazing how fast things can flip around. I was in complete darkness with no way out. Now I feel a bit of hope fluttering in my heart. Good luck Anon. Pick a direction and just try. You'll be amazed how fast things work out.

I'm not gonna lie, its a hard time to get work right now. Every company is cost cutting and laying off people. If you're determined you can try showing up at the front office of a company every monday at 6:30 and ask if theres any jobs open. You're not actually trying to directly get a job but instead show your dedication and ethic, and eventually when even a small position opens up they'll pick you over anyone who's more qualified. If I could go back I'd probably try to get into some higher paying trades like Elevator tech. or steamfitter, maybe welding, maybe try to be a crane operator or one of the guys who drives the excavators. One thing I noticed is that everybody is lazy, and everybody is a bit dull, so as long as you don't mind working and are actually decently smart most companies will hire the hell out of you.

1.3% is better than 0%, and you can find closer to 2% with online banks. Always have 3 months cash sitting aside as insurance against Murphy's Law. 20k is good for your age, but that's just a car accident and a job loss or some basement flooding away from serious financial issues. I keep 3 months in a high-yield and the same amount in MINT in my portflio MINIMUM, but I'm very conservative. 3 month rule will save your ass multiple time in the next decade alone most likely.

CD s aren't liquid and everything else is too volatile besides cash which loses value over time. Congrats on the grad btw.

10k is an easy number that errs conservative. Do that if you can't monitor actual expenses or do estimates.

It's all region/situation depenent. I have a $350 mortgage, $600 in bills, $500 food, and $300 misc plus I throw an extra $2000 at principal every month. Split two ways with the gril. This varies wildly for everyone.
