Brehhhs how do you get good at star questions if you have no professional experience? I made a complete embarrassment out of myself my last interview, I ended up responding to half of the questions with "sorry I can't think of a time where something like that has happened to me"
I'm not a good liar so making up stories on the spot isn't an option. I feel like I'm never gonna get a job

I've taken speech classes and have given tons of presentations over the years and every time I freeze up and shake uncontrollably. I fucking hate it but I can't help it. I do the same in interviews. I do the same talking on the phone. It's so fucking embarrassing and practice hasn't helped at all. I'm not even a socially inept guy, I have tons of friends and go out every weekend, im in a big fraternity on campus and talk to girls all the time, so I would think I have enough confidence for monologuing but apparently not. Why does my brain go retard autismo mode any time I have to speak in a professional setting?

Try taking propranolol before a speaking event / presentation / interview.

>> No.19298013

I used to have bad impostor syndrome like that. Experience is the only cure. I was at a job where everyone was older and I felt like a kid larping as an adult. Now I'm older, and work for a company where I'm more experienced than others so I feel in control. I used to take Propranolol which helped with the shaking and panic attacks but it isn't a good long term solution.

Fuck this was the situation I was in when I applied to be a security guard. I froze up on the “what’s your greatest weakness question” and had them all stare at me while my narcissistic ass searched my empty brain for two solid minutes. Fuck man just let me have my stupid low wage job where I sit in a car all day

If you really have no professional experience, maybe draw from school or whatever else?
Just keep it really vague... only add detail if they pry further. "One time I was working in a group and had to act as mediator for two members who disagreed very often on how to approach things. Both of them refused to budge and argued with one another, but I was usually able to find the common ground to keep the project rolling smoothly."

>>19298058
This is a stupid question. Most employers actually worth working for won't bother with nonsense like this. Don't ever say something actually bad, it's bait. Just make up some bullshit about how sometimes you get too focused in on details and have to remind yourself to stop and look at the bigger picture.

I've tried this almost verbatim. Employers tend to pry as much as possible though and it makes me crack. From my own personal experience and the experience of my peers it's pretty clear that interviewers (especially ones for large companies) have a good nose for smelling shit.

Its a medication known as a "Beta-Blocker".
It basically helps regulate your heart rhythm.

One of the biggest problems i had when performing (speech, musical performance, interview, etc) was not my mind, but my body.

Like you said, i could practice and practice - but when the time came to perform, my heart would basically freak out and dump adrenaline (fight or flight response), which would override whatever cool/calm mental attitude i was attempting to uphold.

This would create a body/mind loop which would take more of my attention to control, rather than focusing my attention on the performance at hand.

The best analogy i can think of, is its basically xanax for the body - rather than the mind.

Do some research, and tell your GP about your body anxiety problems.

Thanks anon I'm happy to learn that it's not mind altering, after all it's my heart rate that I feel the most when doing these sorts of things. I'm definitely gonna look into it. I play piano as a side job so I can relate. Jazz improving is a bitch live.
I don't have a primary physician so I'll probably just use a meme virtual pill pushing doctor and hope I don't get raped in bills.

you just gotta get mad at life and fucking own it.
and recognize you don't "have to have" any one particular job.
you just need to have "a job"
so don't let yourself get so worked up over any one interview or another. your going to nail it some day and that's the only one that counts

also, remind yourself that every one of those people interviewing you, are all majorly incompetent and dumb as fuck in some way or another, so yeah, they're not perfect. don't be scared of them as if they were

Brainlets. Here is the ACTUAL strategy for how to succeed in that question.
1. Think of your real greatest weakness (that is relevant to the job)
2. Downplay it
3. MOSTU IMPORTRANTU ----- Tell the interviewer HOW YOU ARE IMPROVING and will continue to IMPROVE.
Boom! t. never failed a job interview in my life

It's a skill I'm trying to learn. I can keep up lies very easily in emails when I have time to think about what I want to say and the possible responses and how to react to each one, but when being interrogated I get nervous and make too many inconsistencies in my stories. I got interrogated recently for falsifying data on a research paper. I never admitted to anything, but the people in the room said they knew I was lying and I got slapped with academic dishonesty anyway.
