By far the biggest volume is through CFDs since 2018 which cuts in to the volume that would otherwise be on BTC/USD and USDT pairs and also reduces demand for lending.
This is the biggest "artificial" factor and it's suppressing price not pumping yet still we pump.
Tether gives you some of the advantages of crypto without the price fluctuations of Bitcoin which is very attractive to some, it's competition to Bitcoin that moves money out of Bitcoin. It suppresses price yet still we pump.

They can't sell too fast as this will crash the price and logjam the exchanges

the tether fud has been going on for too long now without a critical point of failure
with the amount of printing they are doing now most of it has to be legit or there would show up massive problems within the system
remember mtgox they only managed to remain fraudulent for 1 month max before it was crystalclear they were exitscamming and that was back when 1 entity controlled 90+% of trading volume

if a sizeable portion of tether printing would indeed be fake as you imply
then this means that somewhere in the ecosystem someone has to amass all these worthless tethers without defaulting on his promises
if it is an exchange then you would see massive delays in either btc withdrawals or cash
miners can't amass tethers because they have running costs that have to be paid in local fiat and can't handle even small amounts of fraudelant backing
so the only place that tethers could amass are investors and who holds massive amounts of a stable coin for what purpose

the tether pumps have to be institutional or whale tier money moving swing trades
the only other explanation involves every other actor in the crypto space being in on one giant conspiracy and following a plan to the letter which is fairly unlikely

tl;dr get your coins and cash out of exchanges and the backing issue doesn't matter
that being said tether is in all certainty cheating a few percentage points of the margins but this isn't a systematic threath to btc

>> No.19291356

Since 2018 retards have been claiming the price of BTC is controlled by artificial pumps using fake dollars by Tether. They used to say even the ATH was because of Tether but those people didn't notice Tether didn't even exist at that time.
Nothing they say fits anything we know. We've been in a bear market like the one after the 2013 pump to $1000 since Tether launched. 3 out of 10 of the retard predictions hit so they think they're right even though you get around 5/10 by guessing.

I will give you the real answer so you can sift through all this fucking FUD:

Tether Treasury preemptively prints USDT based on dwindling supplies across exchanges. The supplies dwindle because people are going margin long like crazy. Just look at the ratio of long/shorts on any exchange for any popular coin and you'll see it's 75/25 or higher at the moment. Tether sends the USDT to exchanges and people borrow against the newly minted coin to margin long.

It's that fucking simple. Fuck all the haters and conspiracy nuts on here.

>> No.19291658

>>19291483
>there's very clear correlation between tether printing and the 2017 run
>In early 2018 Tether accounted for about 10% of the trading volume of bitcoin, but during the summer of 2018 it accounted for up to 80% of bitcoin volume
During the height of the pump Tether accounted for at most 10% of the trading volume but as I recall significantly less, it only ramped up in early 2018.
During the lowest lows after the pumps is when Tether accounts for most of the trading volume. Because of exits to stablecoins as you would expect.
