Ladies and Gentlemen, here it is in full display. The true callous and anti-social nature of bears. Notice that he has no concerns for the catastrophic fallout of his sick schadenfreude fantasies.

He doesn't care about all those bankrupted business, the families thrust into poverty, the suicides and abortions, the dissolutions of families. He HOPES that countless mothers and daughters are forced into sex work to support their families. He HOPES that everyone about to enter the job market had their lifetime earning potential slashed.

He can't stand the idea of ANYONE making it. He wants everything to suffer, because that would mean the markets are behaving rationally.

You're a fool if you don't understand that corporations knowingly and willingly abused cheap debt for the last decade to fuel over half of EPS growth and a third of share price increases - artificial growth for shareholders as opposed to long term organic growth for the company that would benefit everyone: the economy, the shareholders, the employees. Rather, they gorged themselves on debt, and yield-chasing investors seeking ever higher yields followed.

Overlevered and complacent, they took huge hits with the volatility spikes that came in late February and early March. Margin calls and deleveraging, massive liquidations, that's what drove the huge declines. The unraveling of the debt bubble was a primary motivator for the Fed to take action - to ensure liquidity as it had all but vanished in the markets (not just equities, mind you). The playbook was the same as 2008, and the companies knew damn well that as long as the Fed would follow it, they wouldn't have to worry about the consequences.

The financial media had been raising the alarm for at least two years. Even as recent as November of last year, WSJ published an in-depth report covering the corporate debt bubble that had built up around the low rate environment established by the Fed. But please, continue sucking Wall Street's cock while they face fuck you, the economy, the government, and the tax payer.

if you book an option, remember what the spread was say it's 40 cents... and what your profit target is... add another 40 cents to that target to count for the spread on your exit... I mean... if the buy is 2 bucks and the sell is 1.50 add another 50 cents to your target profit, and trade... but when you get whipsawed and stop loss hunted don't blame the market for being manipulated... if that's the case play their game and don't even bitch.

None.
I finally, finally come to terms with what is happening here.

The Federal government has given up all pretenses that we have free markets. They will manipulate this shit out markets them no matter the cost. They don't care about your future. They don't care about the dollar. They don't care about purchasing power. They don't care about national security. They don't care about any of it. Logic doesn't matter. Fundamentals don't matter. Long term outlook doesn't matter. The viability of the underlying business doesn't matter. Technicals don't matter.

The Federal government only cares about secondary markets. We could all be eating cardboard and the dollar could be worth less than a seashell, but they would make damn well sure the market would is neon fucking green. Forever.

Just ask yourself one question: am I betting against the Fed? Now that I've finally let go of everything but this singular question, I'm making money in this clown world.

Except it’s not just over-leveraged businesses that can’t survive months of mandatory closures. What the fuck? Damn near every small business would implode regardless of whether or not they were smart with savings and debt. The only businesses to survive would be the megacaps.

How much suffering to justify your libertarian ideals? We don’t have a completely free market and we never did, nor should we. There need to be regulations or you’re going to have people being traded like cattle and harvested for organs, and whatever sick shit I can’t even think of.

I did not like the easing we had done on the way into this. I do not like the way we’ve been cutting taxes and increasing spending. But this is an actual fucking once in a century crisis. It’s time to sort out your ideals from your principles. Maximizing human suffering to try for some ideal is not worth it to me as a matter of principle.

This is a really dumb first order midwit take.

Google and FB are advertising companies. Advertising is discretionary and taking a massive hit. AAPL makes luxury electronic goods. Consumer demand has fallen off a cliff and will keep falling. Microsoft is B2B company. Companies will be looking to cut back on their software spending.

Netflix doesn't make money anyway (except when the pandemic forced them to shut down all production). It could maintain it's valuation bc it's purely speculative anyway.

Amazon is real but will take a hit due to increase costs and decrease of market size. It'll make up for it by increasing its market share.

This is a joke right? FISCAL stimulus is what's saving the small businesses right now. Not MONETARY stimulus, which is the job of the Fed. And the fact that listed companies and other larger business entities that have access to credit or can raise capital through other means is precisely what will result in mostly the larger businesses surviving. The Fed is attempting to prop up corporate America right now, and the larger, ideally more credit-worthy businesses that are responsible for massive employment. This is necessary, due to it being the lesser of two evils; but, those same corporations are largely responsible for putting themselves into the situation of being overlevered without sufficient liquid assets (partly because shareholders don't take kindly to that old-fashioned idea) to cover themselves in the event of a downturn. And the funny part? The Fed jawboning resulted in those same companies piling on even MORE debt, which is what got us into the situation we saw unfurl in March.

But back to the small business failures: that's being handled by FISCAL stimulus, the domain of Congress. The legislature is what's allocation spending to ensure that the SBA and the PPP loans cover as many small businesses with no other credit access and means of lasting through the downturn. The sad part is it will not be enough. The applications vastly outweigh the acceptances. The Main Street lending program that the Fed will kickoff soon will hopefully ease the burdens of the relatively inefficient PPP loan process and limited funding pools, but we'll see.

>morally superior
Get over it. Nobody acted responsible. Nobody acted righteous. And the longer we continue to plaster over the facade, the harder the inevitable fall will be. This is no longer about what's right, it's what needs to be done to prevent long-term detrimental consequences.

I miss my grandfather telling me stories about sneaking into the yankee's statidum locker room meeting guys like babe ruth and lou gherig when he was an orphan just running around in the bronx as a kid... fucking asshole had no family so lied and went into the ww2 at 16 years old and fuck... i guess im carrying his y-chromosome... he was an amazing man... I'm truly blessed I got to lay him to rest next to his wife that day.... the salute and flag folding at the cemetary, taps and the salute... I wish I was able to spend more time with him when he had his health.

>You're a fool if you don't understand that corporations knowingly and willingly abused cheap debt for the last decade
this is a known fact, even the twitter normies know that. Even the twitter normies that pop up on my feed realize Coronavirus Crash will be the patsy for all of that.

HOPEFULLY they'll realize that the policymakers are in on it, and there is no substantial division between the two parties. That they cooperate to keep eachother inn power and make sure there's never any real choice or third party. Ah fuck no they won't.

I don't think this is the time to let it all hit the fan at once. I think it'll punish the innocent far more than anyone else. In times of great crisis, it's always the poor who suffer. They can glamourize the french revolution, how it started at the top, but I very much doubt it wasn't the poor who got buttfucked the most.

As other posters already said, the PPP loans are fucked and have been from the beginning, for reasons I assume we both know at this stage since we already agree. That's likely one reason the Main Street lending program came about. And yes, the Fed absolutely had to backstop the resulting lack of liquidity in markets and simultaneously re-assure corporations that they would provide access to credit for longer-term funding in the event that this situation drags on. Nobody disagrees about the necessity of the Fed's actions.

The point being is not that they were necessary, it's that it was enabled by dovish Fed (in)action and corporate greed, and the people that support the two. Had corporate responsibility been a hallmark lesson that we learned from the GFC, the extent of what we're dealing with would have been greatly reduced. The markets crashed because of the unraveling of the debt bubble, not CV. CV was simply the trigger. It could have been anything, and the longer that the debt bubble dragged on (drags on, really) the more violent and devastating it will be when it (if at this stage) unravels. Greed is what wiped out pension funds, 401ks, and retirement savings. The real economy tanking only magnifies the pain.

>>19264265
Absolutely, which is why the point needs to be made clear and hammered home anytime it gets brought up.

>Permanently damaging their credibility and barely retained control of the descent in March.
The former is to be expected at this point, and why I've also been a staunch believer that markets cannot reach ATHs again by the election without causing a massive political shit-storm. The latter is what's really worrying. It means there will have to be an inevitable unraveling in the not-too-distant future, and unlike 2018, additional taper tantrums won't stop the Fed this time. If they don't unwind, it will only magnify the issue the next time this happens.

I'm a VP (not as prestigious as it sounds, that's below SVP and EVP, there are dozens of regular ol VPs) at a very large public healthcare company. On a conference call right now, all the major players are not looking to recall furloughed employees. At least 1/3rd of the unemployment apps are being rejected due to false claims. Another 1/3rd are "laid off" so they can get a paid vacation on the government's dime.
