GOLD just hit the sell signal. All positions are now closed.
Win rate: 4/5. Average profit: 2.1%.
What is really dragging us down is today's experiment using 1 minute timeframe to identify entries and exits. This is really too quick and therefore strongly limits our upside. 15 minutes timeframe was pretty good, entries were safer and our profit could run for a day or two into 5%+ profit safely. Tomorrow I'll use 30 minutes and see how it goes. A quick examination suggests 1h would be too much, we would get signal maybe once a week.

How can does anybody get into trading without it being a fucking meme? I just turned 20 and all my childhood I thought my dad was some super smart Wolf of Wall Street kind of guy. Turns out he just had a gambling addiction that was being manifested on the stock market instead of a casino.
> he lost 200k in a couple of months by day trading 5 yrs ago cause he would buy and sell random shit every 5 min
How can I not be like that and actually attempt to become a competent investor? What should I study or research?
Pls no meme answers genuine plea here.

for one asking an anime board might not be the best call, tho admittedly some anons have decent advice, you just have to sort through the bullshit. Theres lots of youtube investing tutorials going over the basics of different trading strats. investopedia and udemy both have good courses as well. On top of that i suggest taking out a small amount of money that youre willing to lose and playing with that for the first month to get a feel for things. I did this with 500$ to start and it worked pretty well.

Daytrading is dead unless you are a super apex coder. The best you can hope for is swing trading where you have positions you open at the start of the day and close at the end (or vice versa).
The plays of hedge fund managers are still based on FA with time horizons of 1-3 months that use TA to time how they trickle into it.
The instititute of trading's free videoes can give you a sense of what is a meme out there. Security Analysis by Graham can help with starting FA.

Look up 90-90-90 rule. Swing trading, on the other hand, typically involves waiting for "catalysts" and acting on those. Either knowing or predicting big price point movements because of news events like earnings, new acquisitions, etc. or riding overreactions to bad news.
That said most of the smart money in daytrading is pure algos that you have no hope of beating on sub-hour timeframes over a large period of time.
You could "practice" by using fake money like with thinkorswim to see how you might perform. Just keep in mind in practice you eliminate the penalty of losing money which tends to act as a barrier that makes you only accept riskier ventures with the real deal.
Emotions are actually your enemy and a lot of what it comes down to is risk management and being almost a robot when it comes to your methodology.

>You sound like you've got a bit of the brain disease
>rent is now eating 20% from 4% of a company's sales revenue
I'm not necessarily bearish in the sense that line "should" go down, but I'm definitely aware that we're in a credit bubble and that the situation long before the shutdown was already bad. Margins are simply too tight. Extending credit doesn't do anything about these razor thin margins and we're really reaching a point where we need to start considering viability and solvency over their access to credit.

>that doesn't appear to be true, especially in the south. Humans have a very persistant bias towards "return to normal"

Yes

1) (not pictured) it's at the same RSI as the previous 3 tops we've had
2) It's at the upper bolinger band
3) it's touching the moving average and didn't surpass it yesterday or today (obviously no reason to bull run)
4) it risks forming a head & shoulders reversal pattern and tanking

However, when you're in a bubble and there's a sign of volatility and dumping, people instantly start panicking because in reality it wasn't priced in. Their thought process goes from
>huh, I guess the bad news didn't matter

Typically if there is a sudden drop and the VIX spikes, it'll go down, and then spike up heavily again because very rarely is there ever just one major drop.

In the past, the VIX spikes up to 30 at the most before going down and hitting like 20 or so on the second run. We hit the 90s and our "low" is at 30, which is a previous max.

Despite this recovery, we're still in a chaos storm of uncertainty. If things line up, we are essentially going to see another massive VIX spike.

The SMBs that are typically discussed in the PPP context are most often separate to listed small cap companies. Small cap growth is cyclical based on the flexibility of their business, ability to deliver higher returns leveraging more niche markets and products, and favorable macroeconomic conditions for business expansion at the start of a cycle for those small caps with solid business models and financials (which allowed them to survive the downturn). They have access to additional funding streams that the SMBs mainly targeted by the SBA and the PPP loans do not. I wouldn't confuse the two, but both can be used as economic sentiment gauges, with small cap indices being also a market sentiment gauge. The fact that they've recovered less compared to the main indices is a bearish divergence worth noting. Going forward, we will want to see continued strong volume inflows into small caps (and other beaten down sectors) suggesting longer-term sentiment that market and economic conditions will be favorable.

Up 1.5% or so. That's the Glorious Project Airline Long of Optimism and Bravery putting in work.

Note to the TA people frontrunning the chart: failure to break through resistance is not bearish until confirmation break of support at the lower end of the range. You obsess over the 3000 barrier but forget about that foundation at 2800. Volume is not looking like bears have much to offer to break below. As such, we are snibby market until further notice.

So basically we've seen on a massive scale investors noticing that the economy, in the long-term, is now in the toilet, but for some reason stocks are climbing on abnormal pumps.

The Job Report even basically said Q2 is going to be even worse than Q1 in terms of GDP loss, implying we still haven't found the bottom.

Plus earnings misses across the board. We're basically shaking the flimsy supports on bubbles we already have like credit, mortgages, and tech as a result of the unemployment.

Money isn't waiting on the sidelines precisely because there's so much short and medium term uncertainty.
