How is it that I have multiple degrees in STEM, programmed multiple apps, and a top 1% income earner yet I always score poorly on IQ tests (105-115) range depending on the mood/have I eaten yet. there is a certain truism of the universe that our strength is also our weakness. yes its a gay cliche, but its very true.
you, like many smart people, learned to rely on your natural high iq and thus never developed skills for perseverance and being able to handle prolonged work.
you would ignore the fact that a test was coming up and would cram a few hours before the test and could skate by with B+ or A-. Meanwhile little Joey 106iq had to prepare for the test over the course of several days. After taking notes, preparing flashcards, getting his mom to ask him questions, he too would get a B+ or so.
However, he learned that success requires hard work...whereas your lesson was just fuck off and it will probably work out.

it can't measure how intelligent you are linguistically mathematically spacially or musically. just a certain kind of patter recognition.

People with a very low overall IQ usually score badly in all areas whereas bright people usually score very highly in one area of intelligence and average/above average in other areas.

You may have a savant-like intelligence like I do, I’m still better than average in memory and my verbal was like 98th percentile but my spacial reasoning was literally 99.7th percentile which even suprised but made total sense, my pattern recognition ability is very high. Also have gotten from 128 to 145 on the various mensa ones (I was careful about practice effect), which are more about spatial reasoning and pattern recognition. The scientific consensus doesn't exist and it is also not of any importance. What matters is verifiable tangible things we know, like anything that has an effect on our cognitive performance, both negative and positive.
>If you can find me one clinical psychologist who says otherwise I would be VERY surprised.
Clinical psychologists know that there is a set limit for our cognitive performance, but very few would agree with the notion that Americans are optimized in that regard.
>if YOU have managed to increase your crystallized intelligence
Even if I did it would be disregarded as a standard deviation of test scores. There are countless studies done on both teenagers and adults which show that people can improve their IQ to an extent, but people always dispute the evidence, knowing it could lead to (((harm))).

I just know that experts often times have a hard time agreeing on how to actually measure intelligence. As in, did someone score a 100 because he/she is actually of that intelligence level or is it because he/she is of a different culture and misinterpreted certain questions intended for American test takers. That's just a textbook example, but there are a bunch of other variables, probably some that haven't even been studied yet.
I agree that if that person took the test multiple times, they'd most likely reliably get the same score, but their actual intelligence may be like 140 if the test took into account the variables it was supposed to.
(What I'm getting at is that it most likely is immovable, but we just can't put a number on it.)

Well I also took it at 5am so I was pretty tired. I think it's just the ability to recognize complex patterns, but there's like a few basic ones that I just didn't really think of how to approach it. It's basically like a puzzle game; there are generalized methods you can follow to figure out most of them. And I'd imagine that most of the MENSA kids are studying them in a similar way.

You can totally study for this test, which makes me think this doesn’t really measure iq. For example, at one point I figured out that the test wanted me to add or subtract certain things. But irl if I took a practice test before the real test, I could have figured this out and scored better on the real test knowing this

I guessed on the last four, or is it like the sat where they subtract points? If this is the case, I should have just left them blank
