I have $13,000 and no debt, but my credit score is 640 because I've never had credit cards. How long am I going to have to wait to buy land or a house with the current shit going on? I'm getting over $700 a week with unemployment but so is everyone else so I feel like banks aren't going to be just handing out mortgages. Anyone else stashing cash and waiting for something unknown?

Just get a credit card, idiot.

I've been considering a secured credit card but it kind of seems like a waste of time

Why is it a waste of time? It's good to have credit history. I needed some and I got a secured card a little over a year ago and my credit score is now almost 800

Which card did you get? It just feels like getting a secured card could put you in the position of having to close it at a later date and risk having your score dinged. I was looking at the Discover It secured card and just putting my Amazon Prime membership on it and stuff

>>19167429
yes, I suggest Discover. I only put $200 personally because I'm poor, but if you don't want to put much you can do that. I got it back after 6 months I believe, and the raised my credit limit to $2100

>> No.19167547

Keep in mind not to utilize more than 25% of your limit. Also do not pay immediately, wait till you get your statement. These are the things I've heard and my score rises every month.

>>19167479
Does it let you put down as much as you want? And does that affect what your limit is after the secured period? I've heard people say you can't use Discover as many places but with the internet that kind of sounds like bullshit

Must be nice. Wish we had stuff here like you see in Europe sometimes, where you can buy a castle for super cheap as long as you fix it up and live in it.

>get a secured or regular card
>keep balances low and make payments on time
>use savings to buy link and silver
>wait for boomers to panic sell their real estate
>scoop up in 2024
Simple as

I've used it everywhere. Never heard that. I'm not sure if how much you put down will have an affect on your limit at a later time. But i didn't care about that anyway since I hate credit cards. I just want the good score + credit history because you can be fucked without it.

Alright cool. And it just let you switch to a standard Discover card after 6 months?

oh and yeah you can put down $1000 and they'll give you a $1000 credit line. $200 was the lowest

>> No.19167725

>>19167695
No need to switch the card, it just converts the one you have. Your card will be exactly like a standard credit card.

you can probably get an unsecured one with your credit score. It doesn't hurt your credit to apply for one. Most card companies will offer a secured product if you apply for an unsecured card and don't qualify.

say i have a 500 limit, spend 300, and pay all/almost all of it off every month. does that hurt credit? is it the spending or the letting it hang over til the next bill that hurts?

Play your hand smart with crypto (=buy ESH/Ghost at the dip) and you'll never have to worry about crypto again.
