In YT I would be a content creator making historical videos and related stuff, in Twitch I'll have to game and use any charisma that I might have.

Both. Stream on twitch and edit it down to clips for youtube.

non. For Bezos as for Alphabet the platforms are net loses; and the users out of 2000000, 2 can make a modest living out of streaming and 10 might get enough to pay for food each month. The rest is lucky if they get one viewer over the course of 6 months streaming/uploading videos

Twitch is faster (for now) if you dont have the personality of a brick if youre a guy and zero self-respect if youre a girl willing to softcore sell her orifices.

Youtube takes for fucking ever to even get $2 a month because of their bullshit monetization schemes. Ad revenue is a gigantic fucking lie and most videos people telling you you can "earn a living" off it are lying to make a clickbait video. Unless you make deals with sponsors/game companies youre gonna need about 1 year input before you see any return even if you have ultra-genius content.

Twitch is fucked in the future though because of their hiring of a literal retard and development of that "safety" comission faggotry.

TL:DR
Wait a bit and see. Its likely something better might just come along and fuck both in the ass.

t. Insignificant streamer/youtuber only earning like $150 a week from both combined.

It will all likely be fucked soon and I'll likely have to find a new platform for calling out e-whores and befaggoted "diversity" subhumans for being what they are.

>>19160438
So even with sponsoring anon, you can't make a decent living? Or if you can, it will take an entire year as you say? And what exactly is their monetization schemes? I know that to get a partnership program you'll have to reach a specific number of subscribers and views. Do you get paid anything after that? Do each one of your videos generate ad revenue by itself?

So the $150 is from ads (both youtube an twitch), donations, subs etc.
I take that as a baseline because sponsors can be iffy. Some acrively seek you out, others will never touch you because
>>19161517
This guy is right.

With sponsoring you can yes but you need to have 2 things.
1- viewers who respond to the shit you say and follow through when you ask them to do something
2- for youtube: ~2k subs min and at least a 500 views within 24 hours of uploading. For twitch: average of 25 live viewers on most days you stream and have at least hit affiliate status (partner comes later) along with an active chat (botting really doesnt work and they have a few algos that pick up people who do it and then just never give them the affiliate contract to sign if caught)

Had a few indie devs that were willing to pay to have me play their stuff on stream/youtube and that was definitely worthwhile money-wise.

When looking at monetization schemes jewtube is shady as fuck. They TELL you that you get almost all the money from ads running on your shit but when you start speaking to companies directly then numbers dont add up. Doing some rough calcs and having some friends within several companies tell me its likely (and been bragged about by youtube staff on some occasions) that they actively fuck over creators and keep over 90% of all money paid to them, giving creators less than 1 cent per 100 views with over 10 mins watch time. Also yes, each video technically generates income individually but that tends to drop to near zero after the first 24 hours when the algorithm actually gives a shit about pushing your video on people.

Twitch is surprisingly more open about shit (for now). They straight up say "we take 50% of everything that comes through us. Merchandise, direct donations, anything other than bits, drops and subs? Not our fuckin problem. Go fight with streamlabs/streamelements/payment processors"

Also keep in mind that if you dont have at least 4k hours watch time and 1k subscribers on jewtube then they wont give you a fucking cent regardless of how good and how much above-board cock-sucking you do

Its useless unless you are famous. No one cares about another random mong in twitch. The algorithm is damned, its impossible to grow organically.

>> No.19162158

I think the common play is to make your money through twitch or things like patreon while "advertising" on youtube. The point of the youtube is to serve as a place for evergreen content that directs people to your twitch, as discovery is far easier on youtube than twitch but youtube monetization is aids.

>t. no experience in either just watch/read about it occasionally

>> No.19162327

>>19162158
Nail on the head.
Twitch is best for monetary purposes but you need to use absolutely everything else for discoverability.

>> No.19162342

I make money in youtube but my channel is anonymous, meaning that i dont show my face or voice. Its useless to have other schemes than adsense, no one clicks on patreon and merch if you arent a logan paul type or some sort of cult personality otherwise kids wouldn't click on shit so yeah, im stuck with adsense.

If your video doesnt get recommended you get no views basically. People no longer search for shit, its all about showing up on the recommended section and managing to get some videos stuck there so you can get passive income while you work on more content.

I need to come up with diversification because im always stressed to find out a video got deranked and i have a big drop in views randomly. Its fucking annoying. Sometimes I get amazing watch retention time but the CTR is 1 or 2% lower during the first hours and the video is basically dead since it doesnt get recommended. Its a small opportunity to get your video clicked at for a while. If it doesnt ,even if its good and people stay to watch it, it doesnt get recommended. Its a crapshot.

There's some channels that always hit 1+ million views per video somehow. But the rest its so random. And having subs its useless. There's channels with 3 million views that cant even get 10k:

https://www.youtube.com/user/howtoprankitup/videos

How the fuck does this guy get so few views? Statistically, out of 3 million people you should get at least..... 50 to 100k? its clear having subs its fucking useless and you start becoming paranoid if YT shadowbanned your channel for random reasons. After the p-score thing im just paranoid as fuck about it. There are some channels that must have high as fuck p-score that always rank. And then there's the famous people. Even if for instance Logan Paul was throttled for being inappropiate or something, it doesnt matter because he is famous,, people actively search for the content.

So I'm guessing that it's ironically good to have a niche-ish content in YT since that means that people usually actually search to find out your stuff and the stuff that you're dealing with. The drawback I imagine is that you won't have the volume of views that something more mainstream would have.
Though I'm very worried about the things all of you pretty much validate in this thread that YT's policies towards content creators are greedy and tricky. That's something that you cannot abide easily and I probably won't. Because the idea is that you, obviously, want to at least get your fair share of money for your time and effort. If they fuck you up even there, then I guess it's not much left to talk about is it?
And that's of cource by leaving aside things like copyrights and accidentally setting step into that minehole.

>> No.19162746

>>19162342
Merch and shit is more a streaming thing since its very little maintenance once its up and you can actually give someone something foe supporting you AND get a live reaction out of you. Youtube alone is just a slow way to go broke especially since the p-score thing.

Also that guy has so few views for a few reasons. Ive done enough background testing while setting up my channel to figure out at least some of the shit.
First the dude has "prank" in his name. YT algo auto deranks those channels, they have an actual shadowban wordlist that applies to channel names too. Also using caps lock and "prank" in all his titles isnt helping either.
Also he may have tried to sub bot to game the algorithm and unless you pay youtube directly (like T-series or late night and news shows do) they red-mark your channel as a problem and will ensure you never hit suggested let alone reccomended.
Another thing is his channel started in 2013. Its likely that his audience moved on and he's still doing the same old thing, zero content evolution over time means no new audience but rather being stuck with an old, dead one

Im making money so far, im going to keep doing what im doing while it works. But im looking at alternatives

>First the dude has "prank" in his name. YT algo auto deranks those channels, they have an actual shadowban wordlist that applies to channel names too. Also using caps lock and "prank" in all his titles isnt helping either.

What do capslock have to do with anything? I see all capslock videos ranking, I have some videos that went viral with caplocks on.

>Another thing is his channel started in 2013. Its likely that his audience moved on and he's still doing the same old thing, zero content evolution over time means no new audience but rather being stuck with an old, dead one

Im not sure about that. BigDawsTV has been doing the same shit since forever, and is still doing fine. His latest video has a woman with HUGE tits on the thumbnail and he ranked well. He has BOOBS on the title and he has a full capslock title, so yeah, your theory doesnt seem to fit in:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNWlefBFzAI

And as far as merch, again, with some autistic anonymous channel like mine you dont get anything outside of ad revenue. Kids dont click on shit, my audience is probably your average 8-15 year old youtube audience. They will not click on patreons and other stuff, its all adsense unless you are some famous cool dude where you can also expand and go streamer route but im too autistic, so i only do anonymous videos.

And as far as this:

>So I'm guessing that it's ironically good to have a niche-ish content in YT since that means that people usually actually search to find out your stuff and the stuff that you're dealing with. The drawback I imagine is that you won't have the volume of views that something more mainstream would have.

The RPM would need to be high as fuck to make any relevant money off search results traffics. And those high RPM usually require that you show your face and are profesional about things.
