how likely is it for a pawn shop to swap out my silver.

i pawned some and they just wrote it down as 8ounces. not specific to the coin types.

i take inventory and am pretty sure i remember which ones but i feel kinda dumb not paying more attention.
i have a job so im not gonna lose em.

Also how re-sellable is really shiny not at all junky "junk" silver quarters from the 30's-50?

would 58 bucks for 4$ face be a good deal if they're really nice?

it rarely looks like that shot, thats from a vein near Cobalt Ontario that some buddies are doing exploration work on at the moment. If your prospecting, the most likely form of silver ore you will encounter is the mineral Galena. It is a dark blue / purple cubic ore of lead, zinc and byproduct silver. It is fairly common to find in by metallic mineral deposits and is found all over the world in different grades.

do your research before buying a claim in BC. Its too easy to get scammed by the "flippers". Get your Free Miners Licence and understand what you are getting into. By owning a placer or mineral claim in this province, you are taking ownership of the mineral rights to that land, not the surface land.

For gods sake never buy a claim off Kijiji, or at least post a link here for a dude like myself to look into before hand. I am so sick of seeing people get scammed out of $10k by these claim flippers who pay $100 to the government to get a claim, than without any effort on their part flip it to the general population for insane prices, often without even visiting or proving the ground up.

You sure know your history and geography! Only mining I know of is below the rivers (the rivers that go from east to west that were formed south of where the glaciers reached). All the soil to the west is wet. To the east we have better soil, even some old prehistoric glacial boulder formations. Maybe it's all over there! Thanks for being cool.

"For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses."

The way I rather optimistically look at it, if gold or silver moon so much that even stacking tiny 1/10oz or 1oz weights respectively is no longer possible, that means that even small stacks of 1oz of gold and 20oz or so of silver will become extremely valuable.

Also I don’t expect this to happen overnight. Even if either or both jump 100% in price within a month (unlikely) that will still leave us with enough time to buy a little more over the next 3 months or so before we have to bow out of buying, in which case we’ll likely be rich because of the skyrocketing value of what we’ve already stacked.

molybdenum isn't particularly rare right now. The price of molybdenum, tungsten, etc is low due to market saturation and over stock piling by specific companies. There is just a lot more of these ores available and demand for them is not high at the moment so their price doesn't increase. 'evening, fellas!

Things with the lady friend and her mom went well. They loved the silver eagle and I was asked to fix a few things around the house before being fed steak for dinner.

Home now, stack is back to 100%.

The mom was really interested in my paper bills and goldbacks, and one of my silver certificates may have been signed by the then-treasurer above the printed signature.

And the mom's gold coin was a $10 coin with the date in Roman numerals. I think it was 1976.

ANY Aussie Pound coinage above 3p is going to be silver, and sterling was used up until 1945. Starting in 1946, the usual debasement to 50% common to the Commonwealth was applied.

As for the AUD coins, only the round 50 cent coins are 80% silver.

There is more that's been separated into plastic containers ,one quarter each, visible around the scale.

There are also stacks of quarters on the scale and some lined up near the scales lcd light screen.

The ones piled up like a splashed pot are definitely junk but all the others I pointed out are In great condition in my opinion and I have them all in plastic cases like the ones around the scale.

Am I crazy or are these better than junk?

Most valuable industrial metals are only expensive because demand is so low. Most "rare-earth" metals are not rare at all, it's just that only China bothers digging them out of the ground. Only gold, and to some degree silver and the Platinum-group metals, are truly limited by supply.

Only space mining (more supply) or better nuclear energy (lower mining costs) can really inflate the gold supply significantly.

Someone legit explain to me why you people hold precious metals. To me it makes no sense. You are buying for a very specific scenario where the economy/currency is destroyed but not enough for people to think that the economy will come back or they wouldn't be interested in gold. Great many reasons, stocks and crypto are manipulated, similarly to the "market price" of paper precious metals (that has completely disconnected from reality). There is a limited amount of PMs, rich people want it and see it as valuable, companies need them to make shit, China is accumulating en masse and getting ready for the shift of paradigm. Fiat is worthless compared to gold, they printed so much of it in the last 2 months it's laughable to keep money on your bank account instead of investing it.
Stocks are not bad, and if someone likes stock market more than PMs then they should invest in stocks. We just like precious metals more and see the clear future for them.
Dopamine-depleted Crypto-Cucks will get dumped on and will end up holding the bags of abandoned projects, stock markets only make real money when you but the dips caused by some crisis (like a month ago), PMs are always a good idea to buy. You will sell them with profit, there is no discussion about that. And if shit happens and half of the world ends up like Venezuela, that's even better. 1oz of Silver gets you a month of food, 1oz of Gold gets you a house there. With all the socialism/communism gaining speed all over the world, it's not so crazy to assume that your metals will be worth a small fortune in the future.

If the economy is destroyed you have a safe haven, if it's not you still have something of worth.

Second, what >>19168707 said. You need two factors to have a valuable coin: scarcity and condition. Common dates won't command much in the way of premiums unless in the highest of grades. You can go full autist and start inspecting each coin for doubled dies and repunched mintmarks, as those can be valuable (as they're scarce in any condition, made only from one of hundreds of dies the mint made for coin production each year) and even found in pocket change today1.

Generally, the lower the mintage, the higher the coin's value in circulated grade. Those are the 'key dates'
