If your prospecting, the most likely form of silver ore you will encounter is the mineral Galena. It is a dark blue / purple cubic ore of lead, zinc and byproduct silver. It is fairly common to find in by metallic mineral deposits and is found all over the world in different grades.

I got most of mine from a LCS. Spend a good bit with them so they give good prices. And it turns out not a lot of people buy foreign so they typically have some neat stuff.

A few of the harder to find coins came off E-Bay to complete some denomination sets. (after a whole lot of checking to make sure they arent fake garbage)

Second, what >>19168707 said. You need two factors to have a valuable coin: scarcity and condition. Common dates won't command much in the way of premiums unless in the highest of grades. You can go full autist and start inspecting each coin for doubled dies and repunched mintmarks, as those can be valuable (as they're scarce in any condition, made only from one of hundreds of dies the mint made for coin production each year) and even found in pocket change today1.

Generally, the lower the mintage, the higher the coin's value in circulated grade. Those are the 'key dates'
