I heard the Urbit OS works as promised, unlike 99.99999% of blockchain projects. An actual P2P computer sounds amazing.

So what's the deal with Urbit stars then? Should I invest? Heard they were going for $3200 a pop but theres only 65 thousand of them. Did the first people to invest in the internet namespace get rich?

Some people also tell me I can also use the star to start a business selling services on the Urbit network itself... might even be enough to earn back the cost to buy.

It's my understanding that owning a star isn't super important if you want to use it on a personal or small organization level. Urbit wasn't meant to be an investment. There's intentionally no real scarcity.

I'm concerned that the creator left.

He has become politically active again and has written some new articles, might have been for PR reasons (even in the past he hasn't really cared about that).
