I ordered about 60 oz of silver from Scottsdale Mint 30 days ago, and never got a shipping message. Today, my bank alerted me that the money I paid was credited back to my account. I can't get a human from the mint on the phone, so does this mean that they couldn't fulfill my order, and just returned my money?

Sorry to burst your bubble but gold/silver are NOT get rich quick schemes. You don't buy them to increase your wealth, you buy them to preserve the wealth you already have. Sure, they are undervalued at the moment and will appreciate in purchasing power over the next decade, but they aren't going to explode 100x in a year like crypto.

Here's a thought: The historical mean price for a house measured in gold is just under 300 oz. Maybe that'll go down to 100 oz or so when housing crashes, sure. If silver goes back down to say 40:1 ratio then 4000 oz silver for a house. It's not a myth that the gold/silver price is heavily suppressed due to paper trading. This isn't a value judgment of malicious intentions, just the reality of the economy that has developed in the last 50 years. We're on the same page actually, totally agreed that gold/silver is massively undervalued. 10x in NOMINAL value within 5-10 years is pretty much expected with all the inflation that will come.

But you must separate the concepts of nominal USD value and actual purchasing power. If gold goes 10x, that's because the dollar has massively devalued too. Again I do agree that your purchasing power will go up with metals because we're on the precipice of that long macro cycle turning the other way. But if you can buy an average house with 200 oz gold today, don't expect to be able to buy one later at 20 oz, not fucking happening. Like I said, 100 oz is more reasonable, and that's if you time everything perfectly

The premiums are ridiculous, and as they do contain physical gold, they deteriorate over time if handled like normal cash. Since they're supposed to let you spend amounts of gold so small they'd be impractical as coins, that's a problem.

However, I really do like their western Victorian aesthetic, and I like the idea of voluntary local currencies (though I'm not sure how that works with Gresham's law forcing them out of circulation when you can also spend USD). The fed will try to prevent deflation at any cost, even if it means causing hyperinflation and picking up the pieces after the fact. A lot of people in these threads have agreed with the sentiment that short term we will see deflation. If you look at the stats Americans are saving at record rates, while spending is obviously extremely depressed because of lockdowns. tl;dr: PMs only do what they say on the tin, they are money and keep their value. To actually earn money you must either work for it, or speculate with it with all the risks that involves.

Last pic update for a bit, could have spent a lot less on a bunch of this stuff but I really like everything I got. Biggest waste of money by far was the mini bat boi - $70 shipped (at launch it retailed for $80). I've got some other junk silver I didnt bother including.

Total ounces: 59.5 (excluding my free shit, including junk silver not in picture)
Avg cost/oz = $22.65

Gold = 20 peso 1959 restrike = $890 = :( I've seen them on sale at jmbullion for $850 and I feel stupid as fuck for this but oh well. Learned a valuable lesson about not FOMO'ing (hopefully). There are always deals to be found, panic is not the answer. When I bought it a couple of places had them for $875 or $880 but I didnt take the time to check. Stupid in hindsight.

Overall I'm pretty happy with my purchases even if they werent a great value. Still have 10 more ounces of silver on the way and 1oz of plat.

The repo market was breaking down last year starting September. Eurodollar market was showing signs of stress. The only thing that stopped the system from collapsing (even with billions of repo injections per day from the Fed) was the nearly complete shut down of the economy which helped lower demand for dollars. The system requires exponentially larger and larger amounts of debt creation to sustain itself. Look at M2, we’ve gone vertical. If the Fed pumps the brakes they risk the system breaking down. This is undeniable. You look at ancient Roman and Greek gold coins from thousands of years ago and they look just as magnificent as anything minted this year. I have family that has a place in Greenwood, BC along Boundary Creek. When I was a little kid I recall walking in the creek and finding a horseshoe near a bridge. I'm pretty sure it was from the gold rush era.
Is there gold in that area still? I know Greenwood did copper mostly (I think), if I panned Boundary Creek, would I possibly find any gold?
