You severely overestimate the consequences of not paying on your student loans. I have about 40k in student debt, and my minimum payment each month is less than $200. Unless you work with a bunch of doctors and lawyers who have 500k in student debt then making payments on your student loans should be a driving concern in your life. I was worried about for a few months after graduating and listening to too much Dave Ramsey, but there is really no reason to kill yourself trying to pay off that debt quickly.
