A wallet is handy for making transfers easy. You don't have to worry about your keys, you just need your PIN.
As far as "safety" or "security" you'll need to keep your seed words safe in case the hardware fails. And that makes it really no different from any other wallet. Be smart, find a safe way to save your seed words. In a fireproof safe or safe deposit box or some other way to keep a physical offline backup of your seed words. They are literally worth as much as all the crypto you send to the wallet. Those seed words ARE your crypto.

So I wouldn't trust the hardware to never fail. Keep your seed words. And keep tem safe.

A hardware wallet doesn't add much security to storage, it adds simplicity to the transactions.
