SSO (DBPG for euroanons) is a 2x leveraged ETF based on the S&P 500 and it is one of the few leveraged ETFs that existed before the Great Financial Crisis of 2008. Had you bought SSO (DBPG) at the literal top of the market before the recession in October 2007, as of this moment, you would have gains of 176%. Had you bought the underlying SPY on the same day you would have gains of 98%. So had you bought the leveraged ETF, even at the worst possible time, you still would have ended up with almost double the gains.
Remember this the next time somebody throws shade on leveraged ETFs because of volatility decay. Buy the index based leveraged ETFs and win. Simple as that. And start buying now. Coronavirus could be as bad as the GFC and if you start buying in now with a little money and buy in more later as the prices drop you will still come out much better in the long run than buying SPY or worse doing nothing at all. I'm buying and I'll be here when this thing is over to brag about my gains. Do not be afraid. We will get through this and this is your opportunity. Join me and get rich.

This is to the rare few of you who are actually consistently profitable. Does any one else feel like they're being watched? Like your broker put you on some kind of watchlist? We know that *all* brokerages sell their users's trade data to special interests. What if they put profitable traders under some sort of specialized surveillance program? BASED CRABS!
I was FOMOing hard yesterday while at work because my big overtime+hazard paycheck wasn't getting here until the end of the week, and I worried the market would be mooning in anticipation of the reopen.
But I just logged on to e-trade to find -1%s and a few -4%s even today on all but one of my holds. It gives me hope that Monday or Tuesday of next week we'll still be near bottom.

I would tend to agree except for the fact that we're continually losing momentum during market hours and the only sectors that are really benefiting from this rally are tech and some health care. There's still a lot of weakness elsewhere that's lacking the same type of rebound we see on the main indices. We'd really want to see that to at least provide a better footing for the rally. There's only so far it can go off of the back of two sectors.

I see where they're coming from, but honestly, how could you blame the average American right now, given all of the statistics that show how many families live paycheck to paycheck. When that lifestyle comes under threat, yeah, they feel they have no other option but to save in case of eventualities. Once there's more clarity on the recovery, people might have discretionary spending monies, but this was something everyone was predicting as a likely outcome. Look at consumer sentiment and PCE. First time investor here. Over the last two months I have invested $1250 into the NYSE which is quite a lot given my income level. I'm investing another 800 to 1200 next Monday or Tuesday, I'll know how much when I see the size of my paychecks. It's a mixture of mentions from here, normie buys, and my own intuition and familiarity with companies I've wanted stock in before all this. You'll see me making actually funny shitposts occasionally, goading people to short more to drive the market down, and mostly asking people for more information about why they invest in certain things. I started in early April and have been investing more heavily as I go. My portfolio is split between 11 symbols and is currently down 1.3%, so things are going better than I hoped. I worried the market would already be recovering, but the stocks I have are still down and the things I want to buy more of are about an even split between recovered and still low. Some of the recovered ones are dividend stocks or big growers so I may still buy.

Stop stop stop stop stop. Hold your cash you fool. If there's any real advice that floats around here, the best advice is to be cash heavy and make sure you have enough money to cover your ass for at least 3 months to a full year if your income gets cut off. I'm also on the fence. The amount of debt we've racked up is quite high, and past a certain point, it begins having an adverse effect on economic (productivity) recovery. The problem is that there will be a lot of suffering on Main Street if insufficient fiscal stimulus is provided, hence the understandable need to reopen the economy. It's a lose-lose scenario that's only made worse by the unprecedented lengths we've gone to prop up Wall Street. I'm certain that'll be a sticking point during the debates.

Inflation is a constant, despite all economic mumbling folk will always eventually notice that everything is more expensive and their money is worth less.
Cash is trash unless I need it for something or have enough to cover actual unforeseen expenses.
My income won't get cut off because I work two jobs, both "essential", and do good work.
I am more secure than most people far richer than me, because I do not take loans or use credit cards or pay for things with future-money in general. Unless the general public stops buying groceries, I will be there checking them out at one store or another, or watching them check themselves out at kiosks.

The feds are already devoted to pumping through the downturn, but it still has happened and given the global economy something it never gets otherwise: a brief respite. Sure the world is full of twitter retards crying about the trauma of lockdown, and sycophants shilling for e-psychiatrists, but what """genius""" economists always fail to understand is that economies, like organisms, need rest periods. Sure, the money is all as fake as before, if not faker, everything leveraged off the edge of a cliff on imaginary borrowed money, but that's the last what, 40 years in a nutshell?
The economy will slowly rise over time regardless of anything that happens short of a world war, up to and including this pandemic. Look how narrow the valley was on most of the tech stocks I wanted and missed out on, for instance. Some of them panic dropped in March and were already up to normal levels again by April.

No, they are committed to controlling inflation/deflation and unemployment/productivity. The biggest piece here is the credit markets. They are 200% committed to keeping them open.
>everything leveraged off the edge of a cliff but that's the last what, 40 years in a nutshell?
not in terms of magnitude. 2008 and 2012 were significant increases.

Now the normalfags are actually reading and listening to things like the WSJ, and I put out the papers every day so let me tell you some of their headlines:
"A decade of job growth wiped out in a month"
"Worst unemployment rates since the great depression" (they did this one with the recession too)
With emphasis strategically missing from the glaring fact that this is federally-controlled unemployment, not actual economic unemployment. Nearly all of those jobs are back on as soon as there's a vaccine, or in a month or two even if not.
People keep crying about the futures as if it were something to worry about, but it's a gambler's market. It's shorter term than the stock market itself, and that's why stocks keep going back up "delusionally" despite sales crashing, which none of you can understand. It's not just because of the fed, it's because of poor people like me. We know that profit is not only a quarterly venture, that we don't have time or expertise to day trade or week trade, and that when everyone goes back to work, the economy will resume. It may take a year or two to hit a Q4 above 2019's, but that's completely fine, because any money we have to spare we want to safely increase even if it takes a little while. While fundlords screech and panic sell trying to find something to make short term gains off of, we reach our straw across the table and we drink your milkshake because it's on sale.
If the economy is already trying to recover when there is no vaccine ready, already trying to reopen, then that just means a second, larger pump when the vaccine comes through and everyone's nervous energy and optimism returns. If even 75% of the jobs come back (it will be far more, because a quarter of large businesses aren't filing bankruptcy right now), the market will resume as it left off, and in a year or two I'll have a portfolio full of $90 stocks I bought for $55.

Yeah, 2008 and 2012 were huge, and if a Democrat wins 2020 will be even more leverage bullshit, and if Trump wins it may be through promising even MORE leveraged bullshit, but that doesn't concern me because if the US didn't crash yet, having less to do with that leech China certainly won't make us despite all the extra Fed bullshitting. The market has looked like shit behind the scenes since before I was born, but these faggots keep on inflating so my cash is no good. If I wanted security, I'd hold physical silver (and I do). Right now, I want to manipulate other peoples' fear and greed and the same old doomsday prophesying that I've witnessed my whole life to get some extra wealth with which to secure actual financial independence so I can fucking leave and go somewhere relatively honest, even if it's just a different state.
Honestly, I was born in the early 1990s. Consider my entire life. Consider the economic events I have witnessed both as a child and as a comprehending adult. What exactly do you think you can tell me that I don't already know about economics being fake?
You cannot fight the Fed until the whole thing collapses, and it's a tossup if a regular collapse occurs or some braindead failed Maoist revolution occurs from the oversaturation of propaganda in US education, and just tanks everything along with it.
I just know I want out, and overcaution won't get me there. You can tell me XOM is definitely going under but I have a sneaking suspicion that when people go back to work they'll still be putting petroleum in their cars.
