Why do billionaires never invest in researching the cool stuff like warp drives, portable fusion reactors, anti matter drives, energy shields, holographic displays and flying cars?

Instead they would rather give away all their money to Africa when they die or keep $32 trillion locked up in offshore tax havens.

I guess Elon Musk is trying to get us to Mars with SpaceX and all that. But he's just one guy and there are thousands of billionaires who are not interested.

Do they lack imagination or is there something more sinister as to why they don't put their trillions of dollars to work by transforming us into a space faring interstellar empire?

Because to become a billionaire, you have to be the sort of person that only feels like they're winning by making sure everyone else loses.
It's not enough to have everything. Everyone else must have nothing too.

2. they do this to show to plebs that they are useful for them (lmao)

>warp drives
Dumb sci fi meme

>portable fusion reactors
Sci fi meme, can't even make a tokamak work for few seconds, centuries before it happens (if it ever does)

>anti matter drives
Not even sure anti matter exists, just a speculation to explain lackluster theories

>energy shields
It's called a magnetic field

>holographic displays
Arguably already exists either with smokescreen or AR

>flying cars
It's called an helicopter anon, rich people already them it everyday

Billionaires invest in things with realistic ROI, the things you listed are mostly scams that Lockheed and co use to get the infinite pentagonbucks.

and to ensure this and that all of creation rots they need resources, so they opt for "sure" investments, i.e. stuff that someone thought up, made succesful and then they steal it by treachery or force and suck the remaining life and energy out of it and then it gets fucked up, and then the new invention dies or gets normified

>> No.19035186

Unironically ive sort of been thinking the same. I'd just want to try and create cool animations with a high production value. Pay animators far above industry average to attract the best, but don't make it into a corporate shitshow. Try to make something beautiful with some soul in it without worrying too much about ROI. Don't get me wrong, i'm a business minded guy, but to me a lot of the point of making money is so I can spend it without stressing constantly about making a high return or even breaking even, so long as I made something I could be proud of.

Bezos is also pouring at least a billion into blue origin his rocket company and he funded a fusion project called general fusion which recently raised 100 million.

Branaon just does memy crap and hitches off other peoples ideas. See virgin hyperloop or virgin galactic.

Paul allen also funded a rocket company but then he died. Now there's only a mammoth plane left (was airlaunched)

Thats about it.
Musk is obviously king billionaire with all his cool shit he's doing. Starlink is going to make him the first trillionaire.

The trend you notice among billionaires who do what you're talking about is that its usually people who weren't born into wealth. Guys like Musk and Gates. They grew up in an environment where "progress" isn't solely measured in dollar amounts but in tangible changes to the world around them. When they acquire their wealth, their drive to "progress" involves asking themselves how they can use it to change the world.

People who are born into massive wealth have the same drive to "progress" as any other human, but their entire worldview is skewed by the fact that they've never had to work a day in their lives for anything, nor have they ever been left to want for anything. Anything and everything they could ever possibly want is handed to them because they have the money to buy it. So for them, the ONLY way they can interpret "progress" is changes to their bank account. Nothing else is recognizable as "progress" to them. This is the reason why massively wealthy people will continue to hoard money well past the point of being able to buy anything and everything they want, and then do absolutely nothing with that wealth. They don't ask themselves how they can use it to improve the world around them because they are incapable of interpreting "improvement" any other way than making their bank account increase. It's the same reason they're more likely to commit suicide after taking massive losses despite still having enough wealth to live comfortably and never need to work.

Supposedly they do, but this is called the breakaway civilization theory. Also they use government control over patents to suppress new technologies. There could be a hidden civilization, existing parallel to our own, with amazingly advanced knowledge and technology that has scaled exponentially beyond our own. Like 1000 equivalent years ahead.

The scientist's delusion of research without solving a problem is profitable. Warp drives and fusion reactors either don't solve a relevant problem or don't solve a relevant problem in relation to a human timescale measured less than a century long.
