I play online poker for a living. The corona virus is the best thing that has happened for online poker in a long time, so many fish are playing. I'm up $85k last 2 months.

> What's your strat?
That's like asking a chess grandmaster what his strat is. Poker is an extremely complex game and I can't explain my strategy in a couple of sentences. I have spent thousands of hours studying, running simulations, studying, talking strategy with other pros etc.
It takes tons of hard work to make it to stakes where you can make good money. And even with lots of hard work and dedication 99%+ of people fail. It's extremely competitive at high stakes.
> How much did you put in?
I started out with a couple hundred dollars 7 years ago. I started playing full time 4-5 years ago.

because as someone who is a degenerate gambler like yourself would have a weighted opinion on the matter. mainly curious about prediction engines. I don't really like sports, but I would get into gambling on shit like that.

Oh okay. I don't gamble outside of poker and I don't really consider it gambling. There's a lot of variance from day to day, but when you zoom out my graph is pretty much a straight line.

I'm not sure desu. Most normies don't understand (and trust) blockchain technology. Most people haven't even heard of it.
Ask yourself why an average gambler who wants to gamble a bit for fun would
> learn about crypto
> deposit money on a crypto exchange
> wait days for the deposit to clear
> buy X crypto to gamble with
> transfer X crypto to obscure gambling platform which he never has heard of (and might not trust)
When he could just make an instant deposit on a well-established licensed gambling site.
As I see it, blockchain gambling is a niche market for people who are tech-savvy/ into crypto. It won't go mainstream until blockchain security becomes a big selling point for normies (if that ever will happen).

yeah, totally agreed. the onboarding is the biggest achilles heal to crypto in general. once it's all "built-in" to things, more people will use it -- I mean if I can gamble on an app that I know won't scam me, because I can technically "scan the logs" by looking @ transaction history, then I'd probably choose that one. we're still a long ways out for this kinda shit. but I do believe it will come. nice discussion. good luck on your future gambling, ya fuckin' degen.

I think my worst downswing was -$50k. $20k+ downswings probably happen 2-3 times per year on average. I'm pretty conservative with bankroll management and have way more money than I need for the stakes I play. Of course it sucks to lose $25k but it doesn't really affect my life, the games I can afford to play etc. I sometimes take a week off after a big downswing to clear my mind.
It does take a lot of self-control to keep playing your A-game and think clearly when you're on a big/ long downswing. Being able to control your emotions is a very important part of playing poker for a living. It's a lot harder for most people than it sounds.

I try to not get emotional about my results as much as I can. I try to think of it as a competitive puzzle/ computer game (and not real money). I don't get overly happy when I win and try not to let the losses get to me.
However, I do get angry at myself if I'm not playing my very best. I unironically feel worse when I have a +$5k day but didn't play well than if I have -$2k and but played my A-game.

it's ok, anon. usually getting people to like you requires you to be somewhat interesting. keep saving pepe gifs and living the NEET life if it makes you happy.
