there are ways to map out both

Zcoin on the other hand is a black hole, you dump coins and you get new ones created, that way you can keep the chain auditable and you can verify a TX

But this is wrong.
I remember reading a ZK related article where even if you encrypt the knowledge of the amount being transferred, block miners still need to check that you are not sending more than your account contains.
So say you have some ZK operation which tells the miner if a transaction is valid or not.
All the miner has to do is emulate the transaction with larger and larger amounts of money until the ZK operation returns false, the miner will then have guessed the amount.
