I've been thinking about depositing money into my UWPA account and then requesting delivery in order to get more goldbacks.

>Members that fund their online Goldback account may request immediate delivery of their Goldbacks in whichever denominations that they prefer. It is much like requesting cash to be shipped from a bank or credit union. For example, if your account has 1,000 (SLT) Goldbacks and you would like delivery then you could request any mix of 1s, 5s, 10s, 25s, and/or 50s. UPMA is not the only organization that sells Goldbacks.

What is inflation? Say in 1965 you had $10 in the bank. That $10 is still only worth $10, although with much less buying power. Now say you stored that same $10 in 1965, but in silver pre 64 quarters. That $10 is now valued ~$140.

Honestly if you havent bought any as of this second I think you have a good window coming up if you wait. Maybe I'm not as smart as I think I am but I think we're gonna see the price of gold/silver drop over the next week or two. Lots of states are opening up key businesses today or within the next week. I've got a small stack and dont have jack shit for investing experience so maybe I'm a total retard (I've heard the value of the USD also affects spot price which I'm not accounting for at all). Anyone wanna chime in that has more experience on what drives the price of PMs?

Ugh, spot price determines the price of silver. If spot is $1 nobody will buy at $15-$20 even if Bullion dealers determine that’s the market “fair” price of silver. Bullion dealers are total kikes, I’ve noticed plenty of time that they take items out of stock to create artificial scarcity and to increase there premium, then they put them back in stock with plebs like you buying. How the hell are dealers getting new Silver Coins when all the mints are closed? Because they had in them in the first place and didn’t put them up for sale. Anybody buying silver bullion at a 70-100% Premium is a nimrod and is getting scammed by jewy dealers who are looking to make a quick buck off bagholders.

Saw this ad (pic related) for a free WW2 liberation memmorial coin in honor of Dutch/Canadian relations.
Googled reviews of this shop, many complaints that they keep sending stuff and then demand payment.
This is probably the fourth scam I've come across in Dutch coin market. I assume mostly old people get tricked into giving these people money. There's also a legit shop that is specially designed for retired boomers except three times what you'd pay in other shops.
Sad!

currently its lower than gold as heavy industry demand for platinum is down. However, there were only a few mines operating out of russia producing significant quantities before corona hit. The south african deep platinum belt is out of action right now due to safety issues underground, so no new supply coming from there if russia stops producing.

The main reason Platinum went so high for a while was there were so few mines producing any compared to its usage rate. If people are smart they will figure out platinum's proper value when compared to gold.

best way to store valuables in my opinion, get a decent size ammo cabinet, put a hundred+ pounds of ammo in it, and put your valuables in it as well.
usually a thief would rather break into the gun cabinet to get your rifles then worry about your ammo, unless maybe he thought you had pistols in there...

Reason silver and gold aren’t where they should be vs fiat $US is that mainstream investors don’t believe we are going to get consumer price inflation.
They really bought the FEDs bullshit hook line and sinker that deflation is the major concern.
It’s frustrating
but now that global production of nearly everything is diminished and hundreds of millions are literally being paid not to work price inflation is coming.

You can definitely find silver at cheaper than $19.55 per ounce. Cheapest I can find right now from an online dealer is $18.72/oz. Also r/PMsforsale has some really good offerings occasionally.

The argument against plat is that it's a metal primarily used for industrial use. Something like 2-3% of available plat is used for bullion. It's just not viewed as a precious metal the same way that silver or gold is. There's just not the same historical precedence for it. Maybe that will change but who knows. Some people speculate that the price of silver is artificially low because the big players like JPMorgan are manipulating it (which theyve been caught doing). Silver supposedly has more potential gains if the price shifts back to something more realistic.

Most people would agree you want a little diversity in your stack. Your stack is your stack tho and when it comes to investing - do not feel obligated to listen to what other people think. Inform yourself by listening to the experts but draw your own conclusions.

You're stacking on your parent's dime then, and if you're investing 'our' money we'd probably rather you spend it on something else. I'd advise a mutual fund if you know, we weren't in a depression or whatever. Even a savings account is likely to do better than metals right now.

but my actual concern would be that you have excess income because you're living in my house, and when you move out your savings will evaporate because you didn't expect it to cost so much. Also you're counting on my financial stability and good health, which certainly isn't guaranteed.

for a more selfish take, I'd rather you moved out and established yourself not just for your sake but also so I can hit you up if I need help.

of course it's collapsing. That's the best time to buy. But just like silver, you're buying the flow. It doesn't actually matter when you buy.

you just want to do it as early as possible because the dollars you sit on are going down in value every day. Silver will stop that, but only over decades.

Putting your money into a mortgage when the bubble hasn't popped is probably worse than letting it sit in the bank. Inflation will devalue the dollar over a period, a housing crash will devalue your investment within a year or so. Horrible idea

So, now that people are starting to realize that deflation is the major issue, how long until that reverses? I'd like to stack more GLDM and Barrick GOLD but there may be much more downside than upside for the short and mid-term time horizon.

It's not likely to "pop" at this rate, it's going to shrink, and then foreign investors looking to get the fuck out of the yuan/renminbi, Ruble, Rupee, etc. are going to buy land in the US and grow it again.

Thing is, unlike other investments, you can actually live in the house you buy and it means you're not stuck paying off someone else's mortgage with your monthly rent.

I'm just giving the same advice I wish I had been given when I was younger.

Buy house first, then stack metals. If you can't buy a house that's fine. But as soon as you can you probably should.

I might be wrong, I can't tell the future. I only know which performed better over the last 30 years, houses or silver. And even that doesn't matter, if my house went down in value I'd still be ahead because it forced me to save and it eliminated rent. Not everyone can benefit from that, but I sure could have. And eventually did. Just wish I had done it sooner is all.

You pretend that there is no other reason to put aside some money into PM than to show off. Maybe those were your reasons. Maybe those are bad reasons. Maybe it's none of my business.
