The only way for bitcoin to survive is if it's controllers get effectively shrouded. The SoV model is generally accepted, but all faith is subtly thwarted by not knowing the true identity of Satoshi, and the other King Whales. Whales must disperse and bitcoin must live as a human-free entity. There must also be methods to control inflation or deflation by deducing the number of bitcoins that have been lost by strain in the circulation, and then replenishing them. But for now...

Can I write smart contacts & release dapps? Can I have completey private, untraceable transactions without some sketchy tumbler nonsense? No? Then it's ultimately just deadweight. Nobody is ever going to use it for currency, its only value is as the first mover. Everything it offers is fine better by something else now. Eth will flip it, or one of the shitforks will add the same sort of functionality & flip it, either way with Monero chugging along happily behind.
