So /biz/, now the markets have closed and you have time to contemplate, where do you see the market in the medium term?

Whilst there's so much going things are very much dictated by short term events, but I cannot help but feel theres another correction due soon.

Bear/bull memes aside.... So much activity and earnings has been lost that's nowhere near reflected in the markets.

in short: Organization that manages all betting related activities for sport events. Stock isnt going to grow more than 10$ but you dont want it too anyway. They have the monopoly and they pay all that extra cash in divvies instead of reinvesting because really there isnt much innovation in the betting sector.

P.S: Thank me later. I might be a bit biased since i hold 50 stocks but i made 55$ on divies alone some months ago.

>2) am i right to also suppose most books are trash and or fluff?
To a certain degree yes. Concentrate on well known and respected authors with a proven track record.
>3) how do i discern?
Most people who are really good at making money are mostly concerned with making money for themselves, not with teaching. If it's a video series, podcast...whatever, that takes a lot of work then trading/investing is probably not their main thing. There are very competent people out there on public forums who really want to help other people make money but the teaching part is almost always secondary.
Edges in the market are numerous but they are not trivial. If you see something that is easy to understand it's either not an edge or a scam.
>1) is there any respectable and forthright mentors that genuinely help people?
Sure. It depends a little bit on what you wanna do. If it's stocks check out stocktwits. You have to sort through thousands of people until you find someone who knows his shit but that's worth it. Forex? I don't know.

Look at their debt and where its coming from. I've been scouring the high yield (junk) corporate debt markets since March 23. A lot of the uncertainty and pessimism is reflected in the price generally for these. And they are stupid risky plays. I think this about as risky as stock option plays. It really is all or (mostly) nothing.
Hertz and JCP came down the bond markets weeks ago and I knew that both were bad ideas. RCL and CCL did too, and they got as low as 60 but have rebounded to 80. Ford got to 70 at one point.
I am not trying to sell anyone on this. I have been nearly all cash for months now and I feel more comfortable using FA here than whatever the fuck is required of the market. And I am only dipping my feet in a little bit. This is trumpbux + 400, which I am fine with parting with.
I am deciding on this because they aren't crushed by rent costs (like JCP), or capital costs (Hertz), and consumer demand should not really care about crisis or not.

Ok... Bid/ask.
That is where i was looking.

Figured there is a live trading view that i am just not seeing.
I see anons talk about after day movements, etc

So are they just rechecking the bid/ask 1000 times between 4-8?

Do enlighten this dummy.

Yes. Failing to pay the coupon would mean they have defaulted on their debt. That would be arsenic to any potential new sources of credit. And its more likely that, if they survive, its because they get new loans to pay off the old loans (these ones are the next ones due). Interest rates are probably going to be stupid low for 1+ years.
Assuming they survive, and that is a BIG if, then I will get 47.5 dollars from the coupon for the 1 year until maturity and then the 1000 dollars back at maturity. The coupon here is inconsequential.
If you have ever heard of "junk bond barons", that is how they make their gains.

Interesting. I guess if the market is flooded with junk bonds like this, then as long as 2 out of every 3 companies you buy from survive then you’ll come out ahead with good returns. I’ll have to look into them some more. I think I saw you post the other day about this too, did you say that bondholders take first precedence in bankruptcy settlements?

These are unsecured but there usually aren't many secured bondholders for a company like this. Its more common with, say, restaurants.
There is a lot of hot trash in the junk bond market. You will see 99% of stuff be too toxic to even bother looking at. Like all the shale company bonds, especially CHK.

In 2011, Tupperware gave borrowed money from private creditors in 1000 dollar increments. The market price for bonds divides that number by 10, so 100. Aside from interest, 4.75% for 10 years, the company also gives pays back the original loan of 1000 at the maturity date of June of next year. Someone is selling their right to this bond for around 307.5 dollars (you also have to pay a little interest). If the company can rollover their debt into new credit they will pay back their creditors with maturity on june 2021. That would mean anyone holding a bond would get 1000 dollars, regardless of how they got it.
So $1000/307.5 = 3.2 = 320% with a little bump from the 47.5 dollar you get from the coupon
