>The platform developed by the Brown School of Engineering lab of Rice materials scientist Jun Lou integrates catalytic electrodes and perovskite solar cells that, when triggered by sunlight, produce electricity. The current flows to the catalysts that turn water into hydrogen and oxygen, with a sunlight-to-hydrogen efficiency as high as 6.7%.

You have a 15% efficient solar panel (I'm being generous) converting this power to 6.7% hydrogen. So you lose more than half the energy to make hydrogen, which you then have to pump and store (more energy), so you can convert to usable work (more energy).

I remember when I was in University I took this class. It was a partnership with the engineering & business schools. The purpose was to help bring the university's patents to market. So we were given access to the patent vault and unpublished works.

So my team stumbled upon this patent by a professor. It claimed that by impregnating kevlar with this carbide solution it could turn NIJ II kevlar material into NIJ III. Now keep in mind at the time it was the height of the Iraq war. Casualties were skyrocketing and there were numerous contracts out there desperately searching for better armour. If this stuff was as good as the professor said it was it was worth billions.

So we threw our efforts into it and studied the science. Developed a full business plan. It gained so much traction the US Army agreed to let us test it at one of its proving grounds. Then the engineering team came back with the news that finally made the plan start falling apart. The professor started not being happy we were looking at his work. He started refusing to cooperate. After recreating his method we tested the material and at best it increased the Kevlar a measurable amount in ballistics but nothing to the level of NIJ III.

So instead we figured we'll market it as ballistic knee pads to reduce amputation probability. Then when we started doing more research into mass production we found there was no way to mass produce the material. The professors process was so meticulous and complicated even the engineering professors couldn't figure out how to industrialize it.

So moral of the story. University professors are a bunch of crock of shit on 99% of their "discoveries".

Yes, the idea *is* to convert energy into hydrogen at a pretty low rate. It's a tiered system with a couple equilibrium points.

Total production needs to equal consumption over a period of time. Energy direct from solar to the grid is the most efficient in terms of converting energy incoming to the planet into useful electricity. This is followed up with capacitors and batteries that can charge and discharge continuously with very little energy loss.
However, we still need longer term energy storage, and we need it to be both clean and mobile. Hydrogen is one option among many that will see use, because it burns into water and that's as clean as it gets. We won't be using it on any large scale, but in the niche environments where it's appropriate this system is a good decrease in cost.

But for country with big amount of Desert and Sun, that could make them major player on the energy market (if they are not already) the second a renewable way to store that energy is implemented.
Saudi Arabia is of course super well located, but some others players (E.G : Mauritania) could emerge.

My bet is on ammonia being used long term for non meme renewable that are not nuclear
> Main ingredients are air and electricity, meaning it can be produced on ships (no risk of being seized because of geopolitics, eg. factories in China)
> Already super mature production chain with dozen of millions of tons produced because it's the main fertilizer
>Liquid at normal atmospheric condition
>Can be compounded in salt and made solid

Typical setup would be :

If humans were to play the intelligent long game we would automate all there is to automate, optimize all avenues possible, and effectively put the lower-mid and lower classes out of work altogether save for the jobs needed to maintain robotics. this would be just fine if we provided creative, constructive, rewarding outlets for all the leftover manpower. for example if we were to suddenly gain 100% control of india, caught them up on bleeding edge education and left the pajeets to see how much further they could push the limit as no reasonably intelligent man is content to sit idly by knowing there could be more to do we would see india rise above the common street shitter and become space shitters

another redpill, to save on costs and land instead of landfills, toxic dumps, and plastic islands we could just send that shit into space yearly with a landfill that dumps into a silo to be launched

Free energy does not mean the same for physician and energy professional.

For a physician it mean that a closed system potential energy decrease of the same amount of energy transferred out and increase of the same amount transferred in.

For an energy professional, it mean an electricity producing plant that do not need a fuel nor have scalability limits.

Wind, Dams are renewable but not free : you can't install an unlimited amount of dams.

Solar and Fusion are free and renewable, but solar is limited by non-controllable output (no battery) and Fusion need unobtainium ceramics.

Nuclear is pretty much free and pretty much renewable (from an industrial perspective), but is a big hazard and imply very heavy costs to mitigate those hazards.

If you were to find a way to store solar energy in a repeatable, shippable way (even with meh yields), you have the replacement of oil in the industrial world.

>Yes, the idea *is* to convert energy into hydrogen at a pretty low rate. It's a tiered system with a couple equilibrium points

I have no clue what this means.
I showed that the efficiency is so low.

Maybe I should say this:
The efficiency is so ridiculously low, that it will NEVER be economically viable against current lithium ion batteries to say nothing of all the batteries in the pipe line like solid state coming out.

By the time this is released to market so will much better batteries.
Hydrogen is kill!

This. Tesla's turbine was free energy in the sense it captured ALL the latent heat and pressure passing through a small inlet from the atmosphere and turned it into rotational energy (via supersonic self-sustaining micro vacuum tornadoes) which can easily spin a saucer fast enough to 70Gs if the metal alloy can handle the spinning forces.

For the h2o generator, its really easy to set that up but make sure you know what you're doing, for atmospheric electricity, make sure you really fucking know what you're doing cause once you start harnessing it, it is unlimited and flows like water exponentially. lastly, the atmosphere is positive, the ground is negative. like lightning always looks for a ground to disintegtate itself from the atmosphere. now dyor 4chan and good luck.
