They can take a bit of getting used to, but they're actually pretty comfortable. You can always get a padded futon cover for extra cushioning if you really need it. They also have the benefit of being easily put away, which gives you a shit ton of extra space in your room. Wouldn't recommend one if you're a heavy person, though. Or if you live in a shithole with bugs. I now fall into the latter category, so I don't sleep with a futon anymore, and my back has felt like shit again ever since.
