you have the ability to prescribe medicine. No one can do that except a doctor. you also gain the knowledge of human body and can probably save a life of extremely wealthy person if youre the only one who can do a procedure well enough. I also think doctors can easily get into politics, teaching, starting their own business etc. most are just retards who go in directly after college and their rich parents pay for everything

no one ever talks about how there's a "point of no return" after your second year of medical school. average cost of medical school with room and board is something like $50k/yr, potentially much higher if you go to a private school. after two years you're $100k in debt minimum, plus undergrad, for an education that is essentially worthless unless you slog through another 2 years of school plus internship at a minimum. you're trapped. drop out and you're stuck paying off $100k in loans with no return on that investment.

DO NOT enter Med school. Being a doctor is a meme. All your passion to be a glorified healer will turn to dust once you treat actual patients. You will lose faith in humanity especially there's hierarchy all the way to the top. Consultants will breathe down the neck of specialist, and specialist breathing down onto medical officers. And patients are the worse as they expect you to do everything and when you fail so, BAM! malpractice lawsuit, and compliants. Furthermore unless you want to study for the rest of your life and get shit on to all the stages to be a consultant, be that.
Oh yea, and the pay is not equivalent to the efforts you put in.

Here's the 10 year performance of the SPY from 1993 to 2003, with the same $5500 monthly contributions (adjusted for inflation for 1993). The final amount at 2003 is $531,000 which in today's dollars is $750,000
It may not be a million, but it's still a good fund to retire off of.
Additionally, since I used SPY for this, this visualization doesn't reinvest dividends. It could be even better than this.

If you didn't just care about money, you wouldn't spend all your time here talking about ridiculously large salaries and dreaming about being moved to Saudi Arabia to work for $300k. I don't know..... find something you like doing??? Life isn't just about money. Financial independence is nice, but you have to look at the bigger picture. Suppose you retire at 35. What the fuck are you going to do for the next 55 years? If you don't have a career and just plan to be a NEET for 55 years I fucking guarantee you that you will commit suicide by your early 40s. Small chance? Past performance guarantees future returns? What are you going on about? If the S&P 500 doesn't return money at a minimum of 5% average this country will collapse. Do you even know how many pension funds and boomers are relying on this shit? The S&P will always return money, the Fed will print trillions and the government will pass any law necessary to ensure it always returns money.

I’m not a medical doctor but I am a dentist and I have a gf who is going into med school this fall. I have quite a few patients who are MDs and I spent some time in hospitals during dental school. Based on your posts, you’re going to be super successful as a doctor as long as you’re prepared for the red tape and the changing world of medicine. Your autonomy will be severely limited unless you’re in plastics, derm, or similar HIGHLY competitive specialty (remember you’re competing with literal prodigies in this field). You might want to consider dental based on your background honestly. It has its shitty aspects but you should at least know what it’s all about. What engineering? There are many options for engineers if you want to create your own business. Invent something people buy, can be anything from a new type of cooking pot, carpenters tool, drone or whatever. Use internet-based marketing via your own youtube etc to market it, give samples to "influencers" etc.

Engineering has never had as many options as it does now in how to get stuff built. Marketing has never been cheaper. Put in the effort to do it yourself, or give in to mediocrity and wageslave.
