Even worse is that they're going to be a prime target by the federal government as things open up. I can even picture it right now "Trump sets import tarif in oil to jumpstart domestic oil."

A bunch but they're all retarded shizos.
Some will tell you about probability and the kelly-formula(most don't even know what that is kek) but 95% of what they do is just overfitting with hindsight bias.
>fundamental analysis
FA doesn't always give you the answer you want. For trading you want something more shortterm. It's good to know where a company stands but all in all it's better to trade event oriented around a FA core thesis. Stocks tend to rise towards positive events...new source of income, market expansion, cyclical market sectors, partnerships....
>100s of other big companies are attempting automated technical analysis with trading software
Not really. Quant finance is not TA. Rentech has a huge database of with all sorts of data.
Everything TA related is sold to retail traders and 3rd worlders.
>Is technical analysis actually profitable?
There are a few tics in the market that can be exploited but they change over time and it's nothing you would ever find on the internet under the TA label.

If you're in it for the long haul, might not be a bad idea to see what the hell this market wants to do. It's barely limped by during market hours, and has been up mostly due to pre-market or after-hours pumps.

>>18775906
Just stick within your risk tolerance and keep an eye on the news. Cash or less risky positions are perfectly okay until you feel comfortable with an entry point, assuming you've got a long time horizon. Good time to do your FA now, for later use.

>>18775929
That's retarded. If a company fucks up by their own hand, it's on their management. There's nothing wrong with profiting off of their failure, and they should be allowed to fail. Markets are healthier when there is risk involved for the companies in said markets.

Tankers don't own the oil!!!
Tankers are renting their space to the idiots that got stuck with the contracts!

All those problems you mentioned are actually good for tankers. The more they hold, the more they get payed. It's their business model, get payed to hold oil, usually while moving, so now it is even better!

Next months contracts expiring again. More oil glut news (which will come). Another trigger will be the only extremely good earnings reports in the oil economy. As said, DHT presents their report the 5th and it will be perfect. We are talking about 16% divvy here. Nobody can ignore these numbers especially now that we see some red in Europe and perhaps later in the US and with all oil companies cutting or reducing divvy.

In other words, I see only good news coming for oil tankers. Opening up the economy - even when done tomorrow - will just postpone it all a bit.

If HAL and MRO see their former glory (which they will) before the end of quarantine trading them for LYV could potentially net 200%+ gains.

GILD might explode if they develop a good Corona drug so I think youd be crazy to not at least buy a share or two.

UAVS might partner with Amazon today at 11am, about something related to drones, they've seen 150%+ over the last 24 or so hours.

TXMD just released a Contraceptive ring for roasties that they hold the patent for until 2039 and it's being shilled to the goyim hard, 100%+ gains yesterday.

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but nigga it sounds like you think they bought the oil off the oil producers. The tankers are paid to store and transport oil and because of low and negative oil prices as a result of the oil glut, this translates to high earnings in tanker companies due to increases in their service rates.

That's simply foolish. Look at the applications to the SMB loan program and how many of them didn't make the first cut. The credit restrictions have been increased as well. There will be many businesses that do not get the funding they need, or simply won't be able to ride it out until they can turn a profit again, or don't want to risk additional debt on an uncertain future.

I don't disagree with you that they will do their best efforts to stem the tide, and they should, as they have. Their loan efforts are already tapering off, as they've managed to stop the broader economy from seizing. The fiscal stimulus that Congress provides is where the SMB money is coming from, and that's already been through the ringer with delays, money going into the hands of larger corporations, credit restrictions, and a lower acceptance rate. These have all been reported for a week or two now. Your anecdotal experience doesn't discount what is actually occuring.
