help me /biz

>be me
>buy 1.3kg of scrap silver (925) but looks like crap
>want to melt it down to a nice .999 1kg ingot, but not sure how to do it/where to go?

fire away pindejos, pic related

Well you can buy a forge and chemicals to separate out impurities, but I doubt you'll be able to get it to .999 at home. Even if you could, there's no way it's worth it for 1.3kg.

Metallurgist here,

You are never gonna get fine silver in a home-made lab - The impurity content will be too high unless you have access to a vacuum furnace or reasonably well controlled inert gas atmosphere (e.g. pump in Argon to reduce the Oxygen content).

My advice would be to just have some fun with it and make some sand-mould castings of cool dagger shapes or some shit and then try and sell them

Chill out m8

Did the picture he posted contain electro-refining kit? Or did it contain cans of butane and a crucible?

Just hold it, who cares?

Some silver or gold fag will always eat it up later (clearly you did). Don't bother smelting it.

wait, did it contain "a vacuum furnace or reasonably well controlled inert gas atmosphere"?

no?
then go fuck yourself for pretending to be a metallurgist and not knowing how silver is actually refined in small batches.

He posted a picture full of basic smelting equipment so I advised him that he would need proper furnace equipment

I'm laughing at you pretending to be a metallurgist and not knowing how to refine silver.

it's funny to me.

can you give us medical advice and tell us you're a doctor?
how about how to build jet engines and you can pretend to be an aeronautical engineer?

and try to do the sexy voice when you lie, ok?

I haz a question. Why doesn't 999 and 1000 pure silver double and quadruple in price like diamonds, platinum, gold?

>> No.1877131

Silver is no doubt a investment that will grow but it will take along fucking time. Gold is king and will always be.

Just go on youtube and look it up. You just want the Ingot shape thing, a super hot blow torch, a container to melt the silver and clamps to pour the container into the ingot shape.
