What's so bad about putting $5000 into a bunch of the top cryptos and basically sell the peaks and buy the dips instead of dumping it all into the current hypetrain?

I just made a nice return on XMR but I had to basically put all my cash in there and had to hold it for months. If I had split my risk among other cryptos, I think I would have seen more gains.

how do you setup stop loss on a trading site? (I use cex.io)

The odds of all cryptos being successful is nil. You willl essentially lose a ton of money in the longterm.

Implying it's easy to find peaks and dips on assets that move on such huge scaled fractals.

This.
Just buy a portfolio and hold at all! cost. If you're lucky the one winner will be so huge that he negates all the losers. E.g. I remeber when ETH had a market cap of around 35-40MM$ and today it's 100 times that. But only if you held on to your stack... and there were many many incentives to sell early and ETH chart looked pretty shitty for quite some time.

that is why I sold my 4000 ETH for only like 3 or 4 USD profit per ETH.
