>Hypothesis: the S&P 500 Index ETF (SPY) will cross the opening price line at least 1 time per day, except in extremely rare cases.
It hasn't crossed the opening price line only 22 times in the last 2771 trading sessions giving 99.2% certainty that this will happen.
While the vix index is above 30 these crossings are made far more extreme, as you can see in the visual anaylsis % changes from open to high/low are far more extreme which makes 1 thing much more predictable, the initial crossing over of the opening price line.

Im a beginner and this is pretty damn good information if true. So basically buy puts whenever it starts high and sell as soon as it dumps below the opening price, and calls whenever it's below opening price?

The analysis from 04/20/2020 doesn't really make sense. It moved a lot more than 10cent after opening

so i looked it over, it's bullshit. You will get margin called if you try this. You'll win small 99% of the time, but when you lose you will lose 100% of your stack

It depends how many times you get margin called. And 30% isn't really small.

Not saying it works though

The majority of all trading sessions, the opening price will be crossed multiple times of the first 15 minutes of trading.
If you want to utilize OP's genius strategy, you would have to wait for these very few days where the opening price is the same as the daily low or high, and the price has moved decently away from the opening price.
