Now switching to interactive brokers, whose software is the worst I've ever seen, but at least it does options without a fucking $25 fee to exercise, plus $10 per trade, plus $1 per contract. This will also mean I won't need to get >12% on each successful trade to so much as break even anymore, which will let me ride the tanker wave for real this time.

He's probably buying more American Express (among other things), but it wouldn't surprise me if he's getting into restaurants like Darden and others, probably hotels, and maybe Capital One or Discover. I'd be a little surprised if he's getting into entertainment or hospitality stocks like Royal Caribbean, Cedar Fair, and the like, though. I'd assume that's a little speculative for his tastes.

>It’s the herd mentality, a self fulfilling prophecy.
That's what the 'algorithms' part is about, exactly. They base themselves around TA therefore TA becomes real. Thus it doesn't matter that TA wasn't originally real.
The decision theory part says that making a move based on a coinflip is no worse than collapsing to the prior, therefore either TA is not predictive and works as well as random, or it's anti-predictive and working against it is better than random, or it's predictive and working with it is better than random. Thus in any case it cannot, after burn-in, be worse than random, and thus it's always worth it to do TA. By the same token, astral analysis IS a valid decision theoretical way to play the stock market. Doesn't mean it's better or as good as TA, this is up to you to measure.

This is considered quality discussion.

In the event that this isn't bait, businesses will suffer as they lose access to funding vehicles. Some will not last, some will not take on additional debt in the uncertain environment into which we're heading. High unemployment will be a certainty, and the longer the phased re-opening takes, the higher the real unemployment will be. That will have knock-on effects on discretionary spending, debt obligations, and the like, which will ripple throughout the economy. This is on top of sector-specific damage, and the impact of COVID-19-based health and safety measures on things like factory productivity (see Chinese factory re-openings). Of course a rebound will happen, but not until we have better clarity surrounding the economic condition we're in and how we'll be tackling the economic headwinds we're up against.

Coronavirus for whatever reason is capped at about 20% infected strangely. It doesnt hit 60%+ like youd expect.

Lots of ideas but noone knows why

Even in the cruise ship and ever country.

Implying 20% antibody is herd immunity.

Would be very interesting why this lower than expected limit is holding everywhere

I'm look at UAL and AAL
Both are at about 1/3 of their market value from 4 months ago, but I'm unsure if they're going to go down even further.
AAL has their quarterly earnings releasing on the 31st. Do you think the losses from that (plus the bailout bux) will be priced in to the loss or do you think it will be bad enough to drop even further?
Thoughts?

It's a blood disease. Lots of ancillary effects like blood clotting, increased bruising and rashes, and damage to extremeties. I won't be surprised if there's a very strong genetic or blood type correlation. Blacks have genetic predispositions to sickle-cell anemia for instance.

I don't understand, how can you lose money on $290 calls expiring today when spy will probably be 282 max? Did you buy the calls? So you don't have to do shit and nobody cares? Did you write them, so the buyer won't exercise and nobody cares because why buy at $290 when he could at $282?
If you bought them and thought you could go from deep red to green from the proceeds, you can at least try to sell $290 calls further in the future and hope to fix your retarded position meanwhile.

Unfortunately, we're probably years from conclusive evidence, because I don't think confirmed case data has severity of symptoms consistently attached with it. Many places are doing preliminary antibody tests and it turns out a significant amount of population (20 to 30%) developed antibodies without any symptoms whatsover.

This. Look at how so many stocks move in unision when many retail traders have no idea why. Its literally moving like crypto now. Algo scurries through the internet, picks up a news articlr, immediately dumps its holding with other companies algos. Boom a unified dump. If algos were illegal and you had to have someone manually set the trades it'd stop this obvious manipulation.

Wrong, traders would use algos to get all the data and even automatically signal what to do, and they'd pay $0.01/h indians to do the trade on signal, entirely automated.

Anyone else make their OCD wife manage their portfoliorios while they work a 9 to 5?

I tell her what to buy and when to sell it, then she stays home and takes care of the house and kids, while watching the market like a hawk.

She has some good intuition too, I gave her 10k to invest with whatever she wants and she's at 18k with it after 2 weeks.

Also you're a fool if you aren't buying into big boy oil, they're not dropping any further.

Slack will not budge because its use did not increase due to corona-chan. There are too many options for text collaboration and which one is chosen will depend too much on the existing ecosystem rather than technical concerns. As buggy and shitty as M$ teams is, for example, it comes for free with o365, so garbage-tier companies who subscribe to that atrocious trash will be using teams and not slack. Meanwhile, companies that use a google stack will mostly be using google tools, and others will be using slack.
Additionally, no organization that was not already using these text tools will need to change to using them, because the constraints are not the same as for those that induce an increase in videoconferencing needs.
