Can any leafs provide insight on how good Wealthsimple trade is? Is it better than commission brokers? Will trading a lot of US stocks cost me more than commissions?

>> No.18647798

>> No.18647882

>>18647578
For US stocks it's downright useless, unless you have ridiculously small balance in which case fees won't be quite as high as, say, questrade (they charge 1.5% each way for CAD <-> USD transactions and can't hold USD).
You can only trade with their app, and the app is beyond terrible. You'll have no choice but to use tradingview to monitor everything.
For Canadian stocks, conditioned on the same issues as above, they're the best by far. Truly no fee in this case.
ibrk is the cheapest if you use margin or if you do small transactions, whereas questrade is much cheaper if you make medium or large transactions and don't use margin. Option is cheaper with questrade as well.

It's weird that for crypto the US is the absolute worst place to be cuz due to SEC fuckery we are basically persona non grata on almost every exchange but when it comes to stonks and commodities the US is probably the best place to be with free access to the best markets. I'm not sure how I feel about this since I actively trade both

>> No.18648086

>>18648045
US is still the best place to be for crypto, there are a scant few real exchanges in the rest of the world, which are usually scams that steal all your money and catch a lawsuit before you know it. Even worse with regard to coin exchange which, despite being in non-US jurisdictions, will gladly take your coins and then ask you to sing and dance with your passport to get the coins back, only to steal them all and disappear in the night.

I have slowly come to the terrible revelation that none of you know what the fuck you are doing. I have a Master's in Accountancy with a Minor in Finance. I work for a fortune 100 as a corporate accountant with a CMA and CPA. I used to have some faith in anon. None of you know how to actually value a company. You have no fucking clue how taxes work. You can't read financial statements. For fuck's sake you think TA works and the entire field of decision science churns out dissertations every other day highlighting their absolute dismay at the fact that brainlets ever consider using it. You have no idea what Dunning-Kruger is. You don't know what survivorship bias is. You are too fucking uneducated and stupid to comprehend how fucked you are.

Idk why I'm even posting this, fucking goodluck kids.

It's probably not Corona but just in case you should order your supplements right now and take them for at least 2-4 weeks if you don't already.
Quercetin+Zinc+D3+VitaminC

It's literally what the Doctors are taking at the virus frontline in New-York to reduce their risk. There haven't been any PSAs about these over the counter supplements because there isn't consensus yet (although there's plenty of promising studies) but any doctor working in the field will tell you that it's the current best guess for non-perscription treatment and prophylaxe.

There's plenty of sources especially on Youtube (personal accounts, always with the "this is not medical advice" disclaimer) since the press is only allowed to report on what not to take (Ibuprofen) or stuff you can't get your hands on anyways (remdesivir, hydroxycholroquine etc.). Especially after that retard Boomer couple in the US killed themselves with ""chloroquine"" cleaner.

This video sums it up especially well, NY-based doctor who's been reporting on the virus from the start:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NM2A2xNLWR4

Don't underestimate the virus by the way >>18650873 it is NOT a flu and the issue with it is not the mortality rate but the lasting damage it does in a significant portion of young to middle-aged, asymptomatic and mild cases (We'll hear about it in summer when 100ks of millenials start noticing that they can't do cardio anymore)

You should always take your Zinc in combination with Quercetin, plain Zinc is useless (against Corona). While it enters the bloodstream it can't get through the cell mebranes so even if you megadose it to 30x daily dosage it won't have any effect (the Chinks did studies on this with large subject pools). You need what's called a ionophore to transport the Zinc directly into the cells. Hydroxychloroquine for instance is an ionophore, it's probably more potent but it also has pretty severe side-effects so it's only suitable for hospitalized patients. Qercetin is the only non-perscription ionophore I'm aware of.

BAM-Asset manager with 5 segments: Private Equity, Distressed credit, Renewables, High-end Real estate, and Infrastructure. They're gonna fucking kill it with Oaktree, they bought them expecting distressed debt last year and what do you know. Not to mention they hold shit that is incredibly resistant to market conditions, like pipelines and ports. Their largest weakness is malls, which make up a minuscule fraction of their business and they can easily subsidize them. They're poised to take charge of the asset management space with Oaktree and ride the wave of a flight to safety when people realize alternative assets are where it's at.

TDY-Industrials with segments in space, instruments for planes, hydrology, and imaging, and highly specialized tools with little competition huge knack for acquisitions(and I mean huge) and share price growth with buybacks. A little high valuation but hope to add more under 250 or so, pay extra for quality.

Acquisitions are the theme for the portfolio if you haven't noticed. Fuck character limits.

i dunno. just a guess on my part, but i think there might be some severity bias at work.
the same bias that resulted in incorrect high fatality rates could have also resulted overestimation of its severity/morbidity, etc.
the real culprit was probably high R0 with asymptomatic spread. quantity vs. quality. you get a high number of severe cases just through the sheer number of infections.
i could be wrong, of course. we'll see when all of the panic subsides and more data accumulates over time. blah blah blah blah

This seems to be the case if the recent antibody studies are accurate. The Stanford one is questionable but I'm pretty sure the New York and Masschusetts studies are using an FDA approved antibody. We've also seen similar results in Germany and Sweden and even the chinks (yeah I know-take it with a grain of salt) were saying they were finding a high number of asymptomatic cases a while ago.

It's not about the raw power of the grinder, it has to let you carefully adjust the grind exactly. Different coffees need different grind level because you must ultimately maintain the correct amount of pressure when brewing. If you super-grind your coffee, it will make a puck so dense you'll overpressurize and break something. If your grounds are too coarse, the water will just pass right through without infusing, and you're getting asswater (the shit americans drink and call coffee).
By the same token, you care a ton more about the grind being even than about it being within so or so range.

If the price hits your stop and you still hold, you are completely ignoring your own thesis. That is, you might as well be gambling. The easiest fix to implement is to realize that your thesis is wrong and adjust accordingly: fix your stop loss to a lower level. It's OK to tighten the stop loss later. Yes, this may mean buying fewer shares for the same risk level. Are you a trader or a gambler? Choose.

except doctors aren't taking patients right now, if everyone in this state that's had a flu and wanted to get tested (as part of re-opening work requirements), every doctor in this state would be doing nothing but writing referrals
and the point, AGAIN, because you're a fucking retard, is that every link the referral chain is going to charge you a fee of one kind or another
you have massive unemployment in this state, you have people whose insurance came FROM their work if they had any at all, you have people who have been out of work for more than a month, now tell them they need to spend $50 office visit co-pay + $100 testing fee + or - out of network fee

>why are you only talking about idaho?
Because I'm keeping it simple for your tiny child NEET brain to understand and for a state I actually live in and can get hard data from as opposed to some nebulous "federal standard" or "national mandate".
The broader, relevant, salient point I was making from the outset is that in america one way or another it costs money to get tested.
Testing is a vital component to controlling the spread of an invisible, often symptomless, super contagious pathogen.
In SK, in CN, JP, etc it was free, in china they were pulling people out of their cars to test them. Here in glorious united states of america our government is doing everything it can to suppress testing so that they aren't embarrassed and corporate america is doing everything it can to (once again, like always) turn sickness into a subscription service.

Now this is the last time I'm going to reply to you, so you go ahead and say whatever stupid /pol/shit garbage you'd like to say, but the reality of the situation is, the cold hard facts, the true information that can be gathered from publicly available sources, is that there are significant barriers to testing on the consumer side in the USA which includes money.

Wrong, that metric is useless.
You need to total infected/total deaths to get the local fatality rate. But wait, actually what you really need to do is divide the number of tests performed by the number of deaths occured while also factoring in the false-positive-rate of the applied test kits (there are many different kinds) and adjust for the rate of obscured deaths (some nations don't count old corona victims, others don't count people who die outside of hospital).

When taking everything into account the US seems to be doing better than Italy and Spain, but worse than the bulk of Europe. We'll see how things stand in three weeks, when the first wave is over. By the way, Corona is not a sprint, it's a marathon and any nation can still make up or fuck their early response during the second wave in summer.

There will be continual negative economic data coming out all throughout that period that will already show the damage we've been dealt. It would be impressive if a rally could last that long, given that we're rapidly burning through our supply of optimism, hopes and dreams. Reality will likely set in long before your date. The crash we experienced in March has the potential to be the only crash, whereas the rest is a grueling grind to the bottom as reality continually reasserts itself every week. Continued infections will be only relevant in so much as our ability to handle them, from a health care standpoint, and their effect on the phasing status of a given state.

Why would the people in power need to grab power exactly?

Posts like these are so goofy; you have this silly conspiracy shit "power grab" nonsense that gets dismissed out of hand by sane people, but unfortunately in doing so you're apt to miss the real "power grab" aka consolidation.
Tiny or medium sized businesses, producers, and suppliers are going to fail while the large ones that already constituted a large share will now get closer to a majority.

>who cares? that's just capitalism in action
Indeed it is, and if you're the [largest producer of corn in america] you're happy, but if you're someone that has to buy corn from [BIG CORN] they now have even more market share which means they get to set all kinds of terms, conditions, and prices that go beyond the intended supply and demand mechanics of capitalism.

Consolidation is basically the state-backed theft of market share from small and medium enterprises into the hands of mega-corps. That is what’s happening. That is a power grab.
