My only concern is if the gold price goes too high we'll get flooded from the big boys on the supply side, have you got any data or insights on this?

For example a mine Ive worked at has 100's of millions of tons of low grade mineralised waste that would all of a sudden be mineable into gold if the gold price went high enough, we've even got like 15 years worth of old waste dumps that have gold in them and could be dug up again.

The good news is though, big open pit cutbacks take like 1 or 2 years to strip the waste and gold mills can only process the ore at the rate they were designed for, again it would probably take a year to upgrade/build a second mill and associated infrastructure, so there would be some lag time between price increase and supply increase.

The other good news is while there are a few massive deposits with 50+ year life of mine, there's also quite a few open pits that will be finished in 10 years max, we're talking about billions of ounces being removed from the global supply, most new major deposits I've seen are now deep underground which are very complex to develop and aren't as easy to match open pit production rates. Plus all these mills are gonna be getting quite old in 10 years and will require major refurbishments which will take money and time.

I try to avoid thinking of the Gold Price as high - rather that dollars aren't worth much. In my eyes, Gold is always Gold, and it's the value of money that fluctuates. That said, right now the Perth Mint, for example, as more orders for gold kilobars than they have mine product to process, out by like 20 ton of backorders - that's just whispers on the grapevine though.
Right now there's an abitrage opportunity in NYC's COMEX so every bank in the world is trying to get metal in there. I work with mines and refineries every day and they are constantly producing so I think there's enough demand so that you don't need to worry too much about the supply increasing too fast.

Spot price is mythical. Actual price is what you can convince your customer to pay for it. Remember, real metal means other costs, not just mining and refining. There's transport, insurance, assaying, certification, storage/vaulting, security. There's a lot that goes into it. Generally speaking, you'll be looking to pay spot price plus transport and storage, represented by the "premium".

in the retail market, yes the general public has bought up most of the physical gold avalible at the moment.

On the mining / exploration side of things, we know where there are vast amounts of gold, silver, copper but its getting harder to reach them and the operations to extract them are becoming massive cash sinks for corporations. The average gold mine to day takes 10 years to develop and an average of $50-100 million to begin actual mining.

Depends where and when you're looking. If you go looking for gold in a bullion shop in March of 2020, then you'll find nothing. If you go looking for gold in COMEX vault, it'll be very easy.
If you're talking about finding new mines, then that has never been easy. If you assume that there is a finite amount of gold in the world, then every time someone strikes gold it's one less opportunity for everyone else.
That said, I've heard that some Near Earth Asteroids have enough rare earth and precious metal content to permanently resolve any supply concerns for hundreds of years. Depends when and where you look.

There's really no point in trying to melt down US issued 'constitution silver' like that. In fact, some people prefer it to generic bullion because there isn't very much silver per coin (making it easier to transact day to day business) and because old US coins are recognized as a legit store of PM. Everyone knows that 14 dimes from 1961 adds up to 1 oz of silver, but how do I know that somebody's meme coin that says 1oz fine silver is real? Of course there are methods to positively ID them as the real deal, but normies go for US Mint brand recognition

Perth Mint is delivering both gold and silver, pic related ordered 2 weeks ago. Only selling 1oz silver roos from now on. They are jewing us by not offering anything with lower premium (though $4aud over spot is better than any other 1oz coin right now), I think it is a marketing decision as they will be the only mint in the world delivering physical sovereign mint silver coins at pre-covid premiums. The bars are still priced at only $1oz over spot, I took delivery of ones I bought during dip but cant order anymore. I am guessing they cant afford to mass produce big silver bars without raising premium.

It says out of stock for Silver roos, but if you ring up, already have an account you can make a large order. They cant handle the dispatching of millions of small orders, any large buyer such as most bullion stores in AUS have Silver 2020 Roos right now. In about a month time when the shipping containers arrive
Every single bullion shop in the world will have 1oz silver and gold roos at the lowest premium.
I just wish the silver roos were not so ugly. There as so many aesthetic perth mint silver coins but the roos look terrible.

Will silver dip a dollar or so anytime soon? I want to buy more

Wanting silver recognizable by normies implies you want to trade with normies using it in the future.
This is a big nope. Imagine buying stuff using silver from a normie, who will tell his thousand Facebook and IRL frens that you have it. Be ready to get many visits from people wanting their silver pieces soon; being long lead will buy you some time, but you will be overrun.
