How exactly? No one can ask for delivery and no one will know they don't have the gold.

Until they do. And GLD pays out in fiat during a hyperinflation.

That's why you buy Barrick Gold

>GLD set to implode just like paper oil ETFs
USO: Future contracts
GLD: Physical gold

Idiots don't seem to understand the mechanism here. GLD tracks gold price not by buying/selling contracts, but letting arbitrage in the market handle it via creating/redeeming creation units. USO and other leveraged ETFs only trade paper.

If you don't understand the difference then you've probably been drinking colloidal silver.

I saw someone else say this stupid thing. Probably you. They were pointing to a futures contract being settled in cash. GLD doesn't have futures contracts. Apparently brainlet doesn't know how to understand English.

If you have 100,000 shares in GLD (over ten million dollars) you can stand for delivery. They don't actually have to deliver the gold; they can settle in cash. That's what he's referring to. I've been noticing you cropping up in pretty much every thread, defending the paper ETFs, and it's making me wonder if you have an agenda.

Oh! Just go out and buy it because you can get it anywhere. Well thanks, Faggot! Didn't think about that.

It's not a future, moron.
redeeming physical bars is how they actually work.

> they can settle in cash.
You've been repeating this falsehood all over the place, it's making me wonder what your agenda is.

> it's making me wonder if you have an agenda.

I do have an agenda, it's calling out idiots. It makes me feel better putting stupid people in place.

what's the point of calling it "paper gold" then?
