Providing you buy land that has grass, you can buy an electric fence and an energizer for a few hundred. This will fence in at least several cows. You can also build a chicken coop for a few hundred and you now have access to fresh eggs. Your diet is now mostly covered (eating anything but animal products is malnutrition). I would say you could live like this for many years while spending less than 10k a year.

Lived in rural NC for most of my life so I've been exposed to a lot of poor people. Hell I've BEEN the poor people.
The only down to Earth poors you'll come across are the elderly that have been doing without for so long that they still feel like electricity is all of the luxury they will ever need and a few don't even bother with that if you go deep enough into the mountains. They usually live in run down shacks surrounded by cheap flea market yard decorations and chickens.
The rest are either drug addicts, alcoholics, or alcoholic drug addicts. They'll pick up a job just long enough to buy something they want then quit. They'll have as many kids as they can because they know the state will then pay for everyone's healthcare and the more kids they have the more benefits like EBT they can take advantage of and frankly they just don't care. In their mind bearing children is just something that happens, they don't really consider that the are bringing another human into the world. Speaking of which they all claim to be Christian but will be slutting around at every opportunity.
They're loud and painfully stupid and really aren't much better than niggers. The difference being they will at least leave you alone unless they get really bad into meth and start stealing shit and by that point it isn't long until they hold up a gas station and end up in prison. Niggers on the other hand are just a constant annoyance 98% of the time.

The parts of the IQ test that are most correlated with G have been falling, where lesser G-related testing mechanisms have been rising (probably due to expanded education, informational media exposure, and increased training on tests similar to IQ tests in schools). Even when you rank universities by their literature/patent output, you can't filter out all the garbage that university politics keeps funneling into them by refusing strict academic meritocracy. When I was visiting grad schools in my last year of undergrad, there were 7 people in our chemical engineering class that were going to grad school. 3 of us got into UT Austin's program which was #2 in ChemE at that time. The whole weekend we're there they keep trying to sell us on how we're going to be so lucky to have so many black/gay/trans people in our cohort. None of us decided to accept our offers there.

I used to think statements like that were being overly dramatic, until I found some older high school level text books for math and basic chemistry. While they wouldn't have prepared you to the point where you'd be able to qualify for a B.S. either then or now, I think someone who graduated high school today under that older curriculum would probably feel like their first year or two at most universities would be on easy mode.

Honestly though, I think people miss the fact that the US high school experience isn't homogeneous. There aren't just state to state differences, and private to public differences, but also pronounced local ones. My high school was one of the better public schools in the state, but was only 13 miles from one of the bottom three. There's also the fact that 2 students in the same school can take either mouthbreather daycare classes, or a lot of AP/IP college prep courses.
