Numismatic terminology is vague and subjective. Uncirculated in the common parlance means a coin not intended for general circulation as money. In this sense all batbois are uncirculated. The US Mint also reserves the term for proof coins. Both the proof and bullion batbois are technically uncirculated, but only the Mint's proof version has a frosted effect, though it has been reported that bullion batbois were released in error with frosted sides. "Brilliant Uncirculated" is retard lingo for "hasn't been in circulation as money and is in mint condition", usually. Again, numismatic grading is a scam. Just make sure you get a bat.

They do just about enough to not be taken to jail. Only a rare positive review here and there that praise this seller. I'd go to their shop to see if they actually have in stock what I want and pick it up in person. But it's too far.

i ve been lurking these posts for a few years honestly, mostly in the winters though as i am to busy in the summer to be online all the time. Someone commented on a comment i left in a thread "Based Pan Man" so I stuck with it.

I ve been prospecting since I was little, I spent much of my youth wandering around old mines in my local area, and apprenticing under old timers to learn the trade of prospecting. I did a quick attempt at university for geology but that didnt work out, too much bullshit not enough rocks anymore. I ve worked as an underground miner for a spell, as a museum archivist, a fabricator, hunting and fishing guide and diamond driller.

Its a fuck load of work mate, most people cant do this the way I do it.

I own .. I think right now 9 placer claims and 16 hard rock claims but there scattered all over the place. Those claims mean I own the mineral rights to the ground but I dont own the land its self, in Canada that belongs to the state basically.

I started off with two claims and worked, and I do mean WORKED my ass off to prove those placer claims up and sold them off for a large sum of money to a bigger outfit. I just kept on doing that, except with the hard rock properties I usually either try to keep 1% ownership of the claim, take a lease on the ground or I set up a smelter return percentage. I rarely have ever actually mined my hard rock claims. the property i ve been showing ore samples from may be an exception though if I cant do a deal with a bigger company to buy it off me.

I've mostly converted to metal detecting, hunting mining relics. I suppose I make money doing that but I almost never sell the best finds so it's more a matter of improving my collection than anything. When I die my kids will make a pile of cash selling my junk, but that's not why I collect it.

We're in a shitstorm of total supply chain destruction I'm affraid. Bigly. This is why even if the economy does manage to open on May 1st it will be months if not longer before there is a return to normal.

I don't think you missed out by skipping the geology path. It got my foot in the door with mining companies, but I haven't actually used the degree to make money after that.

if your worried about going in the bush, the best way to stay safe is to tell two different people a time when you will be back and a general location of where your going.

as for other gear or suppliers, i am not in the states but I hear good things about Gold Pan California in Concord. They are fairly dependable and can also help you optimize your kit. Yes a wide brim hat will help, waders are a good idea but unless your planning on creek crawling I would focus on staying close to shore. Shoveling dirt from the bottom of a flowing creek really doesnt work that well.

As for that gold in the photo... that was about 4 buckets of material from a bedrock location I was working on. Spectacular ground, but it only went for about 4 ft than stopped dead. Just an area the old timers missed on a high bench. I think my mates and I each got 2 or a bit more ounces that day using rocker boxes.

AGEs for fractional gold, and I know Somalia does some fractional silver, but I don't know if any other countries do. You might just want generic rounds for fractional silver, and some Constitutional (90% American silver coins) if you're stacking to prepare for a hyperinflation scenario.

I think that's probably a good idea honestly. That way your money does 2 things rather than just 1.

But you should invest firstly in getting a house so that you don't have to pay for rent anymore.

Just bought some last week, they are beautiful if nothing else. Very classy coins. Also I'm pretty sure there's only one more beast to go and the queen never dies, so I'm not worried about the collection being ruined

>> No.18573078

Queens Beast are nice looking but their quality is shit. They will get milk spots whether in capsules or not. This goes for all UK coins.

Like I said in >>18565279 the aftershocks of supply chain disruption will be with us a while. Even if the physical price doesn't immediately jump, you can guarantee dealers will react to news of mines shutting down and mints closing and up their PoS position due to "scarcity".

You really should not clean coins because it destroys their numismatic value. However, if you insist, I will list some ways in increasing order of loss of numismatic value.

1. Dip the coin in acetone
2. Wash the coin using soap and water
3. Use something like a toothbrush to scrub the coin clean in a bath of acetone
4. Use something like a toothbrush to scrub the coin clean in soap and water
5. Use a metal cleaning product such as Brasso, which requires a soft rag to polish the coin

There are two variants of the bat coins: a bullion version and a "special" version that the US Mint sells. The special version has a "P" (Philadelphia) mint mark on its obverse.

Brilliant uncirculated as I understand it means that the coin has essentially zero wear on it. It doesn't necessarily have to be shiny if the coin was never shiny to begin with. It's just that historically, all circulating American coins were shiny when newly-minted and became dull after circulation. Thus brilliant uncirculated makes reference to those coins as they first come out of the mint.

Here is the special bat coin from the US Mint:

The coins are ugly and therefore unpopular. The contain a full troy ounce of gold with some added copper for hardness. However, the designs leave much to be desired. If I remember correctly, most of the obverses feature faces of famous Americans (Mark Twain, Grant Wood, etc.) in a three-quarter side view or almost full front view instead of the traditional profile. Three-quarter or full front view faces pretty much always look like shit on coins. You need only compare old profile Jefferson nickels with the new ones.
