I have been thinking about the virus in depth today and I have come to an unfortunate conclusion. We should all stay inside forever from this day until the end of time. The risk of people getting sick and gods forbid dying is not one that we can continue to make now that the cats out of the bag. Its not worth .5 percent of the worlds population dying for us to enjoy personal freedoms like going out to dinner. Not only have we always been infecting each other with virus' like the flu for too long, but coronavirus isnt going away even if there is a vaccine made. This needs to be our new way of life, economy be damned. We can not afford to lose our over 80 years old kings and queens

LOL $AMD
I made a ton of money trading AMD when it went from mid-march @38 to @50, but the current price is highly artificial. No one dares short it, but the legions of gaymers and Ryzen fabois keeping it near ATHs cannot last.
AMD hasn't payed a dividend since the 90's, so there's a lot a better places to park cash while it is bouncing off resistance lines. But rest assured, one of these days it's going to take another bloodbath, probably at the next earnings report, and I'll be right there to scoop it up cheap and sell it right back to fanbois 2 weeks later at a 30% markup.

Biz anons I ask you for guidance. What do I do with my oil and gas holdings given the recent pump despite the overall situation looking bad by early May.

Currently:
20 RDS.B (down $17)
39 shares combined DHT/FRO (up a combined $1)
40 shares OKE (up $240)
29 shares MPC because it was a cheaper PSX. (up $24)

Is it worth it to hold or will it go lower and I should take my small gains? I want the divies and growth potential offered by these stocks but have a feeling that this oil crisis could have significant effects down the road for the price for a while.

Fed is pulling back on repos starting Monday. At this point, they've already provided enough liquidity to businesses/countries and banks don't need anymore QE (since they've already saved up hundreds of billions for loss reserves). I think the only thing the feds have left at this point is to make interest rates negative, but all that will do is pump bonds, gold, or the stock market because there's virtually nothing to invest into right now (since most businesses literally can't operate in the current crisis). They've honestly done the most they can for the economy. Only congress really try to save the economy now.

this is probably the best resource one can use for the forex market. shows target rates by all the worlds central banks and you just go into what's in higher demand. it's actually a lot easier than one would think, but for some reason 2/3rds of people lose money trying it. boys we are in for some shit this decade

Mainland China protests will probably begin in a few months, if the government responds militantly the west might step in and start a full blown war in support of the pro democracy.

It will take a while for dumb burgers to transition away from blaming the virus, but when they do it will be aimed at politicians and (hopefully) the rich. Massive resurgence of the occupy movement.

John Maynard Keynes spends the whole of chapter 12 of The General Theory of Employment, Interest, and Money discussing speculation and bubbles, pointing to five factors which foster these episodes: (1) neophyte investors owning an increased proportion of capital investment; (2) the day-to-day price fluctuations having an excessive influence over the market; (3) violent changes in the mass psychology of ignorant individuals changing asset valuations; (4)professional investors devoting their skills to “anticipating what average opinion expects the average opinion to be;” and (5) confidence, or lack of, in the credit markets.

Am I just an idiot for not buying OKE yet? Missing out on so much gains, but I just feel like I can't buy in yet when I see oil dip below 18 dollars and energy stocks increasing 8% average. It just feels like the dump has to occur at some point even if energy stocks like this are undervalued, the whole market is overstaying this rally's welcome badly. There never will be a working vaccine.

No vaccine has ever worked for a coronavirus. And even if we miraculously make one that does work, it will only protect for a few months and will likely be just as bad or worse than the disease itself, and you will need to be re-dosed with it multiple times a year.

Sorry dude. Vaccine isnt happening. They might tell you they have one that works, but you would have to be an uneducated bumpkin to believe them.

But as an aside, I think we have an eternal future in oil for a couple of reasons. 1, will probably be easier as a mobile power source (military use) than alternatives, 2 big oil basically own the US Congress and most presidents, and 3 who is to say when a successful alternative energy company comes around big oil companies don't just adapt and buy them out and become the new energy providers of the new sources? I think oil won't be forever, but I definitely do think certain companies will expand in the face of competition rather than hold onto oil until death.

No, its a massive multi million/billion dollar loan. Their value comes from the difference in the money they collect from properties and the interest on the loans. They have special loans with super low interest rates, but because the loan is so huge, the interest payment is still massive. This is how companies "afford" to build these massive skyscrapers, thousands of homes in a suburb, multi-apartment complexes, and other large construction projects. This is why many landlords are anal about rent, because if they don't pay their interest, they are immediately bankrupt.

Friendly reminder for the double digit IQ niggers around here who need to go back:

There never will be a working vaccine.

No vaccine has ever worked for a coronavirus. And even if we miraculously make one that does work, it will only protect for a few months and will likely be just as bad or worse than the disease itself, and you will need to be re-dosed with it multiple times a year.

Sorry dude. Vaccine isnt happening. They might tell you they have one that works, but you would have to be an uneducated bumpkin to believe them.

I think you are misunderstanding what is going on. They do not "own" the property. It happens like this:
Some dude wants to build a super expensive apartment so he goes to a bank with a plan.
The bank approves the plan and gives him a special low interest loan based on the expected income of the property and the level of risk the bank wants to hold.
These loans are NEVER PAID OFF. Its not like a normal person mortgage.
If the "owner" does not pay his interest, the bank will foreclose the property in order to reduce the risk.
If you ever wondered why a large building is abandoned its because the bank kicked out the "owner" and now the property just sits there until they find someone to buy it at a steep discount (like another bank) or a new "owner" is found to manage the property.
Sure, in unexpected times, banks will afford some leeway, but if the banks don't get the money they will also just be dissolved (by other rich companies, people, groups, or even the government).

Nothing you say has any validity as long as you keep throwing racist /pol/ bullshit at the end or trying to link it to some racial political bullshit. If you want to make a real argument, try analyzing all facts and letting them dictate your position, instead of cherry picking a few and throwing "see it's all the blacks fault" at the end.

But you're not actually trying to make an argument, you're trying to "win" some political game over how edgy you can be.

that post was obviously not serious, and if it were, the idea that welders are important would be much more rooted in the fact that welding is necessary for industry and shipping.

Like, really? You think if every welder in the US lost their jobs that they wouldn't find other jobs, and their communities would be destroyed? What the fuck is wrong with your brain?

The real problem would be that tankers, railcars, industrial machinery and equipment, etc would not be able to be made new or repaired. The problem would be a lack of WELDING, not of welders paychecks.

It would be absolutely hilarious if this is the case. Bears would get BTFO shorting the "channel break" final leg down of Wave 4 just to have it bounce off of ES 2715 while bulls would go all in as Wave 5 passes the 61.8% retracement line only to have it dump biblically right after.

-visible- protests of course coordinated to some extent, but theres too many people who answer to the 'cui bono'. media has no stories except for this so theyll cover it, people have nothing better to do, and by the looks of it most of those people are landscape business owners or retail shop owners. to be direct i dont think those are 'paid protestors' on the level of hillary jumpsuit parties but i think all the stories and encouragement was met with excitement by whatever relevant authorities could blow it up and get favor w trump etc

The hypothetical situation was the possibility of WELDERS being out of work because of a material needed for their job. Not EVERY blue collar worker, but WELDERS.

You're making the argument that welders were such a large portion of the communities of the US and the US consumer that it would destroy the earnings of KO? Why? I already gave you the better argument here:

> The real problem would be that tankers, railcars, industrial machinery and equipment, etc would not be able to be made new or repaired. The problem would be a lack of WELDING, not of welders paychecks.

You're talking out your ass. And clearly never held a real job. Do think there are no pipe fitters/welders that fucking fly to Alaska three months out of the year to work on pipelines? Contractors that build skyscrapers that travel? Shipwrights that move from place to place building ships? Take a nap. Think about what you're posting before you shit this stuff out.

meaning labor's ability to be retrained and reallocated for optimal production - not just from geographic point A to B (this is still immobile, especially because people have many illiquid assets) this also includes movements from something like from auto service to ship building.
