18529889 No.18529889 [Reply] [Original]

I'm talking terrible ideas, lost money, bad investments basically anything you sunk value in with a shitty pay off.

I'll go first. At the height of btc/crypto in jan 2017 I finally jumped in after being hit with major fomo and sunk 8k into everything. Eth majorly dropped from around ~1400 to 1000 and I bought 8eth. I was lucky because I still only invested what I thought I could lose and don't really have regrets.

The other thing is I spent 2 years of college for 0 pay off and dropped off cuz it was a waste of time. Instead joined the military and got a degree for free and have been saving ever since.

Bought land in the middle of Montana, some guns and ammo, a bunch of food, meds and other supplies, a large propane tank to get me through a winter, some solar panels and internet. But I sit here on my throne of things and realize I pissed my life away preparing for the end of civilization and forgot to enjoy life along the way. I might survive The Happening (if it ever happens), but I never really lived.

during the crash in the beginning of 2018 i deposited like $250 into a shitty exchange called tradeogre to buy a shitty coin called trtlcoin. i didn't (and still don't) have a lot of money to invest so why not try to hit some gold.

i kid you not the exchange literally misplaced my decimal so instead of like .02 btc it showed that i deposited .2 btc. that was a surprise and all but of course i put all of it into mf trtlcoin.

well, trtlcoin started to moon and at one point i think i was at like 15k. i thought about taking it out but this shit was the new dogecoin. it was a different time back then, you had your and coins and your crypto kitties and your ponzi schemes. alas, it crashed to basically nothing. i cut my losses and withdrew the $100 that i had left.

After doing two months of research, lurking biz and reading every thread, learn how exchanges works, opening accounts on coinbase, and so on, I finally decide I'm ready to step into the magical world of crypto, the day of the Lord 3 January 2018. I had 300$, and lost everything but 30$ in the crash that happened in the following two weeks

Of course it's not that much money but I was a poorfag student at the time, who needed to pay rent and shit, so it wasn't fun at all.

I bought the Female Health company, they make female condoms. They had all these big government contacts for poor 3rd world countries. 300,000 condoms every few months. The governments were giving them away for free brith control. I think those governments figured out the scam and all the contracts ended.
Who has even used one of these?
How effective was this population control?
Lots of African and South America countries were buying them.
What was I thinking on dropping 5k on this at $2.50 a share.
The only female condoms from this company I saw for sale was at a thrift store.

To be clear Dentacoin was a ~2B market cap coin in the bullrun but it has an insane emission schedule where its just devaluing the shit out of itself at a rapid rate. It went down to like 10 million, and of course that sounds like a great buy until you realize a few months later the 10 million market cap wasnt representative of each coins value, because they minted so many coins even despite "burning" them, they still had 100x more being printed. So now its dropped from 10m to 3m market cap, and thats not just 1/3 of the price, it means its like 10% of the price. It was devalued 70% down to 3/10, and then devalued another like 70% from emissions alone.

You put your money in that and they will redistribute it to retards filling out dental surveys.

I got this hot stock tip from the same source that told me to buy nvida at $18. Kek

It’s really funny how fucking retarded this was. I need a sponsor, almost, to call right before I buy shit like this, or even just say it out loud to myself. Kek This all happen in 2016-2017. I think I managed to salvage $1k out of it. I don’t think they are even publicly traded anymore kek.

That moment in the thrift store seeing an opened half used package of female condoms for sale. Holy kek, it was a funny, sad, self-realized wtf am I doing with my money moment. I told my friend, how much I dropped on them, and the cashier heard me. Kek the look on her face, like this retard spent what I make a month on this company. Kek holyfuck was that funny.

There are many kinds of investments, and ways to lose them. Behold: I am a music producer. Since a teenager I've had little home studios, tinkering around in music software making beats. Keep at it, get pretty good. A few years later I have a body of work. Its pop music, and I need a vocalist. The music itself is fun and perfect for a girl to sing on. Run findgirlsinger.exe. It took a full year, but I finally find the perfect girl. Young, cute, amazing voice and can write her own lyrics. We write some stuff up quick, record it, and now we have a single. Drop the single on the internet. Within hours people start passing it around. 2 days later european blogs are talking about us. Many things happen. 3 months later we are sitting in the office of a major label signing a 3 album deal. Gold records on the wall, the whole thing. All this without ever having performed live and based on one single. Record contract provided us some funding up front, this is called the 'advance'. Upon completion of the first album, *significantly* more funding is unlocked. We decided to use the advance to rent a space and build our own studio. The advance paid for about 75% of the cost of equipment and other necessities. Idiot I am, I decide to take out a loan from the bank to fund the remainder thinking that we can use the funding available to cover the loan once the album was completed. Solid plan, right?

(Cont'd) ...Wrong. Turns out the entire time I had been working with this girl (I did not know her) she was into some scary stuff. Low key criminality, bad drugs, bad people etc. Heavy mental health issues. All of this started to reveal itself slowly over the following months. Work stalled because she was unable to work. Far too sick. Meanwhile the label is breathing down my neck asking for thier album. Weeks turn into months, months into years. Still no album. It's been 2 years since I signed that contract. Were talking total out of pocket losses of 30k on this project. 40k if I'm being honest with myself. Luckily even after signing the deal I still kept my day job and was easily able to cover it. In all, it was a fascinating experience and the lessons learned were invaluable. And oddly enough, because of all this SJW stuff the record label wont drop us and have kept the door open if we finish the album. I have it written, and it's fantastic. If the girl gets her shit together, it will be amazing. Who knows.

>want to profit
>too lazy to buy large quantities of masks, also slightly paranoid they might get confiscated
>know nothing about stocks, I just come to /biz/ for the memes, don't know how to "short", the brokerage that is attached to my regular bank account can only buy/sell stocks anyways due to the "low risk pledge" I selected when I opened the bank account (don't ask, it's some weird government regulation)
>not sure if crypto will go up or down ("store of value thesis" was still heavily shilled at that time)
>ponder buying gold but don't commit
>the only thing I'm absolutely certain of at this point is that 100.000s of people will die from the Corona virus

>shit finally hits the fan in March
>go to my account to watch my gains, didn't even have to short hehehe
>Park Lawn Corp (PRRWF) somehow down 50%
>AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
>apparently in the bizarro world of the stock market a company that runs cemeteries and crematoriums LOSES value when more people die

I just got started in investing this year.
I bought a call option for Inovio Pharmaceuticals Inc. for $225 at an exercise price of $20/share, because they claimed they had a coronavirus vaccine ready and its share price was skyrocketing from sub $5 to everything higher.
It ended up reaching a climax of $18.xx until Citron Research wrote an article about them claiming they were overpriced and wrong for claiming they had a working vaccine, and it killed the hype.
Instead of selling the call and getting back a fraction of my money, I held it hoping that it would eventually go up.
At least I learned not to follow meme stocks, or at least to make my money and dip as soon as possible.

I did drugs as a teen. Mostly pot and alcohol and cigarettes and coffee. But in my early 20s when my friends started experimenting with coke, ketamine, dmt, acid, etc I tried some too.

I mean, I always has a good time but that shit did damage my life. Got super into coke for a bit, spend a few grand on it one year, got addicted to benzos during a low point of my life, lost an entire months worth of memory, woke up in a hospital one day after passing out in a parking lot in the winter. When I fuck up I tend to go pretty hard.

nowadays I'm just addicted to the socially accepted stuff: coffee, alcohol, nicotine pills. i don't beat myself up about it. based on my personality and experiences it was always going to happen. but yeah, drugs will fuck you up.

my worst investment was JNT btw. it was a tie between that and LINK and I thought I knew better than the autists here. held to -95% on a $5k investment. if I had put that in LINK i'd have probably between $20-40k on that alone.
