My wife was killed by a drunk driver. I was already drinking a bit to much and this sent me right over the edge to full blown alcoholic. My sister in law comes over to check on me.im completely falling down drunk. The way she looks and smells reminds me so much of my wife. I pull to me and start to kiss her and feel her up. She tells me no but she doesn’t try to physically stop me. We move to the floor and I hiked her dress up and pulled her panties down. She was still telling me to stop but I just didn’t want to. After I got inside her and started pumping she stopped talking. She was running her hands over my body occasionally as well. When I came in her I nutted so hard she was leaking before I even pulled my dick out. I laid on top of her exhausted and she ran her finger through my hair and told me it was ok. She helped me get to my bed and I passed out. When I woke up she was still there. She said she understood what happened was an expression of grief but it couldn’t happen again. She said she knows I’m a good person but I have a bad drinking problem I needed to fix. I apologized a lot and I’m ashamed to admit I cried while doing it. She hugged me and told me not to worry to much about it but she had to go home now. I’m pretty sure she told her husband. Every time I’ve seen them after he does nothing but stare at me angrily.

I don't know OP. I think a lot of it has to do with genetics or with some kind of fucked up brain problem. I'm kind of a mild alcoholic. Like, I drink often, but I never find myself "needing" to drink. If I go a week or two without drinking it's easy for me, not a big deal. Some people are just fucked in the head and you might just be one of them.

Accept that all that shit happened to you. Equally important is reflecting on why it is you choose to keep drinking.

If you want to tell a doc, they may get you hydroxyzine, gabapentin, baclofen, etc. It will get you through the AWs. Take it exactly as prescribed.

If you don't want to tell a doc, replace your drinking with a modest daily dosage of phenibut, then taper off of that shit gradually. I can't emphasize that last thing enough. Alternatives to that would be CBD-only, melatonin, DPH (OTC nighttime sleep aid).

Other recommended things over the long haul would be things such as milk thistle, pure cranberry juice, and multi-vitamins with every meal to aid with fatty liver. A proper nutritious diet.

Now go do it, commit it, fight that voice in your head that craves inebriation, and you will see it through. Only then would I try to make amends.

I'm an alcoholic and I can say that yes, not drinking the first sip is the only way to stop drinking. Which sounds easy, but it's hard constantly having to turn down drinks and to be in public knowing that you can't just have one bear...and once you have a drink then it is blackout city.

I stopped 3.5 years ago. I am an alcoholic. I went to two meetings, they call me a "dry drunk" because I attained sobriety mostly alone without running the program. I did do one thing though, I admitted there was a power higher than myself and I asked it to help me. It did. I suggest you ask it to help you.

Weird larp but for other anons who have actual drinking problems, this is what helped me.

1: Buy enough food/gas/etc for 2 weeks.
2: Throw out all of your credits cards, order new ones.
3: Work as much as you can or do something where you are physically unable to drink.
4: As soon as you come home, slam 75mg Benadryl or if you can get a prescription, an Ambien.
5: Rinse and repeat for 2 weeks.

I wasn't at the liter of vodka per day level but it worked for me. If you have a physical addiction and get tremors, etc, you need to get medical help for it though.

I was an alcoholic for 4 years, I tried to quit in every way I could of and failed everytime. Then my kidney failed on new years eve and I spent 8 hours in the worst pain I have ever experienced (and I have Crohn's disease..) and thought I might die. I came extremely close to losing that kidney and that was the only thing that made me quit because I was so scared. Now, two years later, I still drink probably more than I should but I am too terrified to get past the 3rd pint or so. Basically you're fucked, you just have to wait for your body to tell you to stop and even then you might be too far gone.

I know multiple alcoholics that drink, almost exclusively, Budweiser. It's cheap, it's available, but the important part is that it's harder to go overboard with beer. You can take one swig of hard liquor that is the equivalent of a beer, and before that's even in your blood stream, you take another, and another, and by the time you start feeling it, you've got so much alcohol in your gut that you black out ten minutes later.
