Your old coins reminded me of this story - When I was a little kid it was possible to buy silver and gold coins at the local market. There would normally be 2 or 3 stalls with older guys there selling their collection or turning over their finds that they didn't really want. I'd also been to other markets further away occasionally and I'd see an old coin dude there selling too. It was during a period of time I was 8-12 years old. When I went to old country towns in any antique shop there would always be coins for sale – aged silver and gold coins where plentiful. Then I didn't go to the market for a decade as I lost interest in my teenage years. On arriving back after all that time I didn't find any old coin dudes anymore. I thought it strange. I had this idea in my head that an old coin dude was as natural as the fruit seller. How times change :(

I just want to tell people here, that the best investment you can make right now other than silver is chickens, pigs, ducks, cows, a passive solar house a colour laser printer with a lot of cartridges and tens of thousands of pages of paper and personal protection. I never thought I'd recommend something like that but I just did. Can you imagine when a box of A4 paper suddenly costs twice as much as it did the week before... and then after another month is costs twice again? And then all of a sudden it's not always in stock and again at a higher price. And you can't buy a printer anymore in a year or two? Eggs are going to cost $1 each or more. This is not a joke. We have entered the final bull run of collapse and I'd be OK if it was going to be over in a year but this shit is going to be extend and pretend as long as possible. Its far more rare than gold but its only industrially used. worse yet is its replaceable and highly recyclable. the main use ive seen is in nickle alloys for turbine blades, jet engines. dont really feel like many of those are going to be in demand

Yeah me too but i think it doesn't apply on those bars because they have a face value stamped on them (you can see it if you zoom in the bars' pics), making it a "megacoin", not sure tho, but i ordered 3 weeks ago 2 x5kg bars and i payed 15.40€/oz, just 1 bux above spot, so it's not possible the VAT was priced in, also no tax line on the order.

Look at the reaction already, massive money printing. This wasn't possible during the great depression and happened later in '09. Banks are going to be flooded with capital seeking yields. Normal people will be hit with the deflationary forces the hardest but we are already getting airdropped helicopter money.

Also consider this from the angle of goods. Food shortages, shortages of imported goods, and tariffs are all inflationary.

The biggest argument for deflation is bad loans, people unable to pay mortgages, people unable to pay rent, declining real estate value. But the fed has demonstrated absolute willingness to buy bad debt, keep insolvent companies alive, drop interest rates, and keep the firehouse of money going.

Meanwhile, the main demand of Gold (Jewelry is 50% of demand) is not very dependent on the economy either. Inflation affects both sides equally: higher wages make it more expensive to mine gold, but also increase the ability to buy at higher prices.

There's no fundamental reason why prices of precious metals should exceed that of inflation. If they do, then that's because of speculation, which is fine but not a store of wealth. Just ask anyone who bought Silver at a spot price of $55 in April 2011.

Look at trying to sell them. Right now you can sell ASEs to an online dealer for $4.50 over spot, while those germanias are only getting about $1.50 over spot. ASEs are more expensive but you get that back.

ASEs are much more liquid too, so if selling them one day is in the cards then I'd go for those.
