If nearly 60% of the country lives paycheck to paycheck clearly the population doesn't have a budgeting problem. how could 150+ million people be financially illiterate?

It seems to me the majority of americans are destined to struggle financially for most of their lives. what's the point in working if you can't afford a roof over your head?

The abundance of labor force lowers wages, the abundance of advertising dwindles unspent discretionary income, the abundance of distraction lowers attention span, the lack of financial knowledge and planning leads to no accumulation of wealth.

HOWEVER, the vast majority of people in history have lived with little to no savings and wealth (land, buildings, knowledge) was inherited generationally.

BUT

This country still has the greatest opportunity to go from rags to riches if you are willing to believe it and stick with your goal. Ask God for the answer earnestly and a way will be shown to you.

Not necessarily. What should happen is the cheap labor should incentivize people to create businesses to take advantage of the cheap costs. (Demand increasing to meet supply) but creating a business is very difficult because of regulation, so demand cannot meet supply.

The US has a serious lack of financial literacy education. In most states, you don't need to take a finance class in high school. Establishing a financial literacy class as part of the curriculum would let kids be informed now instead of later.
Advertising and commercialism is notoriously aggressive, always with these "YOU MUST BUY NOW" types of commercials and adverts. A consequence of capitalism sure, though all out socialism is not the answer. Instead, we should be focusing on educating more people of financial literacy instead of what genders we can come up with.

A lack of education in school. A lack of perceived need by the public because they can't imagine a financial crisis occurring in their lifetime. Bad ass advertising that hits the public's retinas 24/7. Also the majority of people are what we would consider dumb. They need to be told what to believe and how to act, and this isn't their fault because they were just born this way. Let me tell you a story.

When I was in high school I struggled immensely with algebra. I took the class and failed it like three times between sophomore year and senior year. So in my senior year my school decided that I was simply not going to make it through algebra and so they decided to put me in the retard math course. What was the retard math course, the class that only the dumbest and most incompetent students took? It was a class called "Financial Math". In Financial Math we learned:

>What interest is and how simple interest differs from compound interest
>how loans work and the different types of common loans people take out
>what a mortgage is
>what inflation is and why it happens
>how to fill out a W2 form
>how to navigate bank account information, ie checking account vs routing number, how to set up direct deposit, etc
>How the credit system works, what your credit score means and how to pull up your credit report history

again, this is the class that only the dumbest of the dumb were even allowed to take. All the "normal" and high performing students were doing algebra, geometry and calculus for college and shit.

think about that, and you'll begin to see the bigger picture of why this country is as fucked up as it is

>muh frivolous spending

Yeah, sure, but our modern economy and work force has been built up around frivolous spending. All the dog walkers, VR cafe attendants, the endless sea of restaurant staff. All these people have jobs thanks to the spending habits of Americans.

And so you come to the realization that our big ass cities with all our modern conveniences is only achievable in capitalism when combined with frivolous spending. If we were being smart and saving, then more people would be working in the core economy, there would be more public transportation, people would live closer to where their food is grown and we wouldn't have as many choices in luxury goods to throw our discretionary spending toward.

We're also in the perfect position to get fucked by a downturn. If everyone decides to start saving then retail is gonna get fucked. Commercial property is gonna get fucked. All the people whose jobs rely on frivolous spending are gonna get fucked. With all the unemployed and broke assholes out in the street (over 30% unemployment in my opinion), then the government will have to transition to a new economic system because you can't expect 30% of people to just starve and die without putting up a fight, and this transition won't be smooth and society will break.

Just my thoughts.

>baww they never taught it to me in school, I had to learn trigonometry and algebra instead
You are delusional if you think that just because they don't explicitly teach you how to calculate interest payments or what a mortgage is, you can't learn on your own. Higher-level math gives you all the building blocks you need to learn anything they teach in retard school (financial literacy). Even if you didn't have any education in math, you could learn all the basics online. It's not a matter of a lack of teaching, it's a lack of caring. You can learn ANYTHING on your own. Does that mean that schools have no obligation to teach you things? Just because we can learn on our own (and that is likely almost all of us) doesn't mean that we should stand for it. Financial illiteracy is not something that has to be secrets of the ancients for us to discover on our own. I think it isn't just a lack of financial literacy but also a perceived need for it. No one is truly starving in the US. We have a ton of social safety nets. Lose your job today? No problem, there's unemployment, SNAP, you can lean on friends or family, the eviction process takes months so you can figure something out in that time. In the old days if you missed rent then Mr. Goldstein would send a couple goons and you'd be out in the street the next day.

We are so far removed from the hardships this world can offer that we've collectively dropped our guard. The incentive to save at all is just to grow our riches and have MORE discretionary income. A bigger house, faster car, cooler toys.

I think in conjunction with financial literacy training, schools could teach just how bad things could be for all of us. I'm not opposed to "free college", but I'm opposed to keeping people out of the work force until their early twenties when they could be learning a trade or starting a career, especially to teach them something useless like queer feminist theory. I wouldn't be opposed to subsidizing the school training for a doctor, but only if the student shows the intelligence and work ethic required to be a good doctor. I especially support this because if healthcare is going to become affordable then doctors don't need to be saddled with debt right out of school.

Retards and other non americans, here is how america works.
1. Kill the poor
2. Make it hard to succeed, so only the best do.
Why is there so much shit food, why is healthcare so expensive, why are universities so costly, why do you have to go zillions into debt to do things? Because if you are worthy you will come out such a champion.
I sympathize with insurance companies refusing to cover pre-existing conditions of any kind. Americans eat cheez whiz and drink a gallon of coke a day while smoing cigs, drinking, and doing drugs. We are the Usain Bolt of diabetes. Why the fuck would Cigna want to cover Jamal and Cledus who have been retards all their lives instead of letting them die? You get all this willing slave labor from people who don't have what it takes killing themselves to never make it so 10% of us can because we deserve it and are better than you. I love how america brings in the rest of the world because it makes more slaves of 99% of them, and 1% are ideological brothers.

Government and how capitalism works isn’t really taught in school unless it’s some Marxist hot take on the subject. I didn’t learn about credit cards and stocks till I was 28.

Pretty much this, I remember in high school we went over money for a week tops, and it was extremely basic. You combine that with everyone just wanting new shit right now all the time, and you have people barely getting by.

Honestly, how many students do you think are studying this stuff? Is it really that big a percentage that we have to worry about it so much?
>but only if the student shows the intelligence and work ethic required to be a good doctor.
Don't we already have entry requirements for universities? SATs, etc.

The problem with being really intelligent is that you don't really realize how ahead of the general population you really were until you get into your 20's and start working, being out in the real world, conversing with all different groups of people. They can't be saved, trust me. If they didn't stop to ask questions at any point in their 30-60 years on this planet, they won't start now.

That over-the-top shit? Maybe a small percentage, but there are a ton of people getting degrees in fields that are over-saturated. Criminal justice, people who study law, liberal arts majors.

It used to be that college served as a way to screen for intelligence, and so employers figured if someone had a college degree then they were intelligent and could be trained to perform complex tasks. Leftists saw that people with degrees got paid more and had higher life satisfaction, so figured that to raise the underclass out of poverty meant shoe-horning them into college. Then when colleges failed Blacks and Hispanics that was racist, so colleges ultimately lowered their standards. Now we have multiple choice tests to attain a four-year degree and professors teach the test and a college degree doesn't mean shit anymore.

As long as we're trying to achieve racial equality we're going to have shitty standards for our highest positions and this will lead to an overall lower quality of goods and services, a shittier standard of living and a nightmare clown world.

I hope in a positive way. Atheism today is a disgrace. More accurately, atheism was adopted as a means of subversion rather than as a rational conclusion. It was sold as a rational belief but it was ultimately but one of the many seeds planted to turn people over to Marxism.

> Don't believe those guys with silly hats who gather in churches to talk about a sky wizard and crucify heretics that is stupid.
> No, come to us where we gather in higher education and wear whatever we like, declare ourselves to be whatever we want to be, and no one is allowed to criticize us and if you do not agree with us then that hurts our feelings and we will cancel you.

This is not the atheism that I arrived to. I would say that it's not the atheism that I signed up for but I did not sign up for atheism. I just figured out that there is not a literal God but that there is a moral and ethical lifestyle, a civic duty to uphold such values, and a way of the world that is better than others. We may not know exactly what it is but in the bigger picture we can see that there are hints towards one.

Thank you for reading my blog.
