I travelled to the holy land and found a silver Temple made by God himself. There were tough men there protecting the temple. Men of resolve. Men who had seen many battles. Muscled men. I tried to push my way past these muscled men but I encoutered a most vicious bat who protected the stack with a practiced avarice known only to those who have devoted their life to Larry. I wanted to go farther, but I knew that I had gone as far as any mere mortal could travel. I am grateful for the journey. I saw Terry. It was good.

arguments against pms:
paper manipulation as another anon listed
hyperinflation is not guaranteed
competition or higher perceived yields from other assets during recovery (RE, businesses, high yield bonds, equities)
competition from high liquidity durable disinflationary more convenient forms of money like bitcoin and stable coins
dollar milkshake theory
the main arguments in favor of PMs take great depression and great recession levels of systemic friction and monetary policy blunders for granted when it's not clear that any of those things are at play in the amounts required for a reserve currency reset. there is also the complicating factor of cryptocurrency
don't misunderstand me, i have a suicide bag of PMs, but that's ONLY to cover tail risk between "The Road" and "really bad but not bad enough for a shift in reserve currency"

i'm not confident that gold holds its former edge in this scenario. there are a lot of disinflationary and even value generating assets that do the job. perhaps not yet as general or liquid as gold, but it's really hard for me to bet too big against the liquidity and interest earning opportunities that will be enabled by automation.

>paper manipulation as another anon listed

irrelevant. spot price keeps getting higher and will keep going higher. Physical gold is the only gold that matters.

>hyperinflation is not guaranteed

not even needed. The guaranteed loss of purchasing power by the masses is bound to push gold prices higher. the dollar will depreciate even if it does not go into hyperinflation mode. They will try to push the digital dollar (they're already talking about it) when it goes near hyperinflation, it will only further the distrust for the currency and raise physical gold price even higher.

>competition or higher perceived yields from other assets during recovery (RE, businesses, high yield bonds, equities)

Oh yeah, call me when that happens. Bonds are at a ATL, equities are going up only due to the fed buying it all at the cost of depreciating the currency, businesses are fucked due to the economy freeze.

>the main arguments in favor of PMs take great depression and great recession

>> No.18405149

>>18405097
I'm not an expert, but from what I've gather this last few years, silver tends to follow gold in regards to its price. If gold spikes, so will silver. Silver is much more volatile though. In a this global memevirus situation, both gold and silver are going up, I can literally guarantee it. How much no one knows, but they will moon. Unless we have a global currency reset (a possible scenario in this context) there will be a period of time where current currency (dollars, euro, pounds, yen, whatever) will crash in purchasing power and gold and silver will not follow, on the contrary, they will rise. Eventually prices will also rise to reach the depreciation of currency, but not quickly enough so you will have a window of time where holding a bag of gold or silver will buy you perhaps 5 or 10 times its current value in goods. That'd be a good time to buy another non-depreciating asset (land, realstate).

>> No.18405171

>>18405149
however, if there is one thing that this pandemia has proven, is that there is no "safe investment". Currently, most countries have entered a martial law mode, which literally negates the right to private property, so they can come and take your house if they like. So, caveat emptor.

Here's your plan. Go for the most recognisable coins in your country. So stacking silver eagles will be a good bet as everyone knows what they look like and their value. Their value being the silver content plus the authenticity of the coin. Raw silver in grain or just bars will give you the silver price and it is a bit harder to sell unless you go to a dealer.

While doing this buy gold in quantities you can afford. So this can be quarter ounce or smaller. You can also get platinum too as it is very low now.

Monthly stacking can be something like 10 silver ounce coins, quarter ounce gold coin, and eighth ounce platinum coin.

Remember just get coins that everyone recognises. Kugerands, Maples, Philharmonics, Britannias, and Eagles.

You don’t “profit” off silver. Silver going up in dollar price is not the same thing as amazon stock going up in dollar price. You MAKE it in the reset, after the deflationary collapse of all asset prices.

Let’s say you have 200 ounces of silver and it goes to 100$/oz. so you 5x your money in dollar value. Big deal. Who gives a fuck you have only 20k. But that 20k will be like having 20k in 1912 or whenever when a home cost 3k. That’s not exactly what will happen numbers wise. But I’m just making a point in now you make it.

Thanks, yeah I was really considering buying an ounce of gold back in 2015/2016 to try have about 20% gold/80% silver (Mike Maloney and others suggest this typically). Now gold has run up nicely so I sort of wish for a dip but it doesn't seem like it'll come. I live in Canada and the dollar has dropped so much since I first started buying silver that I've always made money on it year after year. The CAD was 0.90 on the USD when I first started buying now its like 0.68 so my silver has gone up automatically from the conversion. Our government just keeps printing it like crazy.

I hate all these factors complaining about dealers thinking they are getting ripped off and don’t understand supply and demand.

In fact I bet most dealers are keeping it for themselves. I’d never go into the coin shop business but if I did half the reason I’d go into it would be because I’d have a shit ton of inventory for when the dollar collapses and then I’d be rich as fuck.

I read YouTube comments of people complaining and I call them all faggots who don’t believe in markets and are like those faggots who file complaints because some fucking hand sanitizer company raises prices because of a surge in demand. Generally speaking, Canadian Maple Leafs and Austrian Philharmonics have lower premiums than the American gold coins. Also, the American Gold Eagle is 22 karat gold while the Maple Leafs and Philharmonics are 24 karat (0.9999 fine) coins. If you want 0.9999 fine American gold coins, you would be buying the American Gold Buffaloes.

That said, if you want the lowest premium, buy the Canadian or Austrian coins. They're highly recognized, from first world countries, and are 0.9999 fine. Australian gold coins are also 0.9999 fine and have a lower premium than American coins.

It means that under 3x or 5x magnification, there is some flaw that prevents the coin from being rated a perfect PF70. You can buy proof coins directly from the US Mint itself, send it in for grading, and get PF69 or, rarely, even lower. No matter what, PF69 is still a very nice condition coin and only the most skilled people will be able to see the flaw without magnification.

Also, I'm not particularly well-versed on modern coins but I don't think the 2005 AGEs really have that much numismatic value. I think grading the yearly proof coins, which have fairly large runs, is something autistic collectors who like to see their coins sonic-sealed in plastic do.

You're welcome. There are reasons for buying American coins if you're a US citizen.

1. American coins are legal tender. If, for whatever reason, gold and silver become utterly worthless, a Gold Eagle is still worth $50 and a Silver Eagle is still worth $1. I believe merchants would be required by law to accept payment in those coins at those denominations. Even if merchants don't cooperate, I would imagine you could use them to buy money orders at the USPS at their face value ($50 and $1).

2. I know that that AGEs and ASEs can be held in an IRA (tax-advantaged). I'm not sure if any other form of gold or silver is eligible to be held in an IRA. For Americans looking to invest in gold and silver in a tax-advantaged account without using a paper instrument such as PHYS or GLD, AGEs and ASEs may be the only way to go.

2. I am of the opinion the American coins are the most beautiful of all the sovereign coins. I suspect that is in part due to the high pressure minting process the US Mint uses. If you like the designs, AGEs, ASEs, and Gold Buffaloes are the only coins that have those designs. Rounds using the designs use lower pressure strikes and lack the fine detail of products from the US Mint.

I wouldn't recommend it because it cost $40 or so dollars to get the coin graded. Also, being encased in plastic is a guarantee to a buyer that the coin is authentic. I believe the major coin grading agencies (PCGS is the big one, NGC is an easier grader as I understand it) guarantee authenticity of the coin. If you leave the coin in the plastic and somehow it is determined that the coin is a counterfeit, NGC will pay out the actual price of the real coin.

In general, you shouldn't handle proof coins if possible. If you have to, should should wear gloves. You typical pay a premium for proof coins because they use special planchets and get their own dies to create the best-looking coin possible. If you really want to fondle a coin, get the bullion coins.

I don't know. All I know is that I'm not looking forward to it. The US Mint has been polluted with liberal idiocy with their push for "diversity" on the eagle coins. They seem to forget that the old coins had non-American (non Anglo-Saxon) faces on their obverses. The faces were typically Greek to reflect the ideas of a republic as developed by the ancient Greeks and adopted by the Founding Fathers.

I have refused to buy any of the diverse coins that the Mint has produced and I strongly suspect most other collectors have, too. The hilarious thing is this. Gold and silver coins are expensive and the diverse people don't buy coins (lack of interest in numismatics) and, even if they did, they cannot afford them.

"When you are ready to convert your precious metals balance into coins or bars, simply follow the process from your Goldmoney Holding. SchiffGold representatives can call or email you to help guide you through the selection and delivery of coins and bars."

I suspect the most difficult part of getting your silver will be convincing SchiffGold that you no longer want them taking their percentage of the storage fees. Be persistent and do not let them do a sales job on you.

The recent rush for silver may result in an overbought market, ie people panicked and bought without other basic preps ready like food and water. They're double fucked if they are freshly unemployed, and may be forced to sell back at reduced spot because, well, they either have metals or they starve. Sucks that they didn't have cash savings, a first and essential line of defense when stacking. Would have saved them but now they sell back and as unemployment rockets the lcs segment is flooded in a few months/quarters with more silver than they can handle. Soo availability comes ramming back into play at a time when no one can buy. Unless you have a solid job and cash/food/water/guns etc. Everything needed to ensure you don't find yourself in that position.
