Tax assessment on the average house in my state is between $10-$15k. Those Houses haven’t sold for less than $200k in almost 30 years. Tax assessment isn’t how much the home is worth, it’s the value of the house that is taxable, and is a fractional amount of the real value of the home.
OP is going to get fucked by the housing crash and is definitely paying too much, but it’s not in the vicinity you think it is.
