I don't see how anyone would vote to allow this, especially the large institutions, and also hell its close to the june 180 day extension they'd get if they left it alone. Under the worse rate my 12600 shares would be cut down to 504. So assuming the price of 1 per, I'd get only 504 dollars v.s the 12600 x 1. To say nothing of the difference at 1.5 or higher a share. Shit, I may just sell the lot of it on monday, take the loss. The loss would be nothing compared to the lost Profit if they do the split. My loss would be over 3k. But I'd walk away with about 4k. So yeah..almost 4k in my account v.s 504 post split.

Just in the past two weeks Trump placed a $15 million bounty on Maduro for his role in drug trafficking, and then Trump made public the US military's efforts to combat drug trafficking in Latin America. Incidentally, no one foresaw this Chinese virus pandemic, a black swan event. Besides, a lot of other crazy things have already happened this year. As you know, the US military killed Iran's top general, which caught the world by surprise. Nothing is out of the realm of possibility, and even crazier things can continue to transpire this year. Irrespective if anything actually happens, investing in defense contractors is always a safe bet due to the US military industrial complex--the beast must be fed.

RRSP is tax-deferred. In TFSA, you pay 15% tax and never get that back on both capital gain and dividends. RRSP you pay the same income tax rate as usual when you take the money out. It's OK to have US stock there, but it makes no real difference. In both RRSP and unregistered account, you pay 100%, rather than 50%, tax on capital gain by selling US stocks. If your goal is to reduce tax burden, you should never touch US stocks, therefore.

A quick casting gives Amissio as Judge so next week will be red. However since I'm casting for you if your desire was that next week be red it will be green. Further your Witness is Fortuna Minor and the market's is Conjunctio. Conjunctio says the market will (continue) to regain what was lost but at a moderate pace. Fortuna Minor says you are experiencing or have experienced unstable success brought by forces outside yourself, and carries with it the danger of fleeting wealth.
Overall the figures are unfavorable to you, and you should be cautious in the market next week.

>NEW YORK (Reuters) - Major U.S. lenders are preparing to become operators of oil and gas fields across the country for the first time in a generation to avoid losses on loans to energy companies that may go bankrupt, sources aware of the plans told Reuters.

JPMorgan Chase & Co <JPM.N>, Wells Fargo & Co <WFC.N>, Bank of America Corp <BAC.N> and Citigroup Inc <C.N> are each in the process of setting up independent companies to own oil and gas assets, said three people who were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly. The banks are also looking to hire executives with relevant expertise to manage them, the sources said.

KO is a good one, most food companies have healthy growth, theres plenty out there. Simply look up any company, check their 5 year chart. After that, see how low/high their P/E ratio is, then google the company's latest financial report. It'll break down their earnings per share, overall profit, how much they pay out for every major expense and their leftover cash flow. Then make the determination based on upcoming projects, major purchases/sells etc to see if they have room for growth on the horizon.

These are all things I've learned studying the game over the last 6 months on investopedia, book recommendations, insightful anons here and there. I've only put in 1200 (aside from my 401k) and it's all spare cash I used to waste on stupid shit. Figured I'd finally right ship and let my money work for me and take part in this.

>you could claim the dividend withholding tax as a credit on your taxes
That just means you're not paying double taxes, that doesn't help you avoid having to pay half your dividends to the government.

The problem with holding US dividends in TFSA is you get a 15% withholding tax that you can't use to offset anything and can't recover via the tax credit. Still worth it if you make decent money because your marginal tax rate will be 40% starting, which means you're paying 20% minimum on the dividend, which is higher than the withholding. However, if you can have high-growth stocks in your TFSA instead of mediocre dividends, it's a much better deal. If your risk aversion is very high, by all means fill your TFSA with dividend-yielding stocks, but that's not what the other poster was asking.

>>18384520
TFSA is tax-free, way better than RRSP which is merely tax-deferred. You should always max it first and RRSP second. For example, when you take 20k a year from your RRSP in old age (you have no other income), you're still paying >2500 (depending on province of course). On the TFSA, you pay the marginal tax rate during your working age, BUT the gains are tax-free. Since your money will most likely roughly double every 10 years, all you have to do is hold that long in your TFSA to be more efficient than your RRSP.

???

He let Italians come in while it was exploding in Italy, he opted not to test until it was too late, he let the koreans buy up our test kits early on, he thought it would be okay to "let it rip" and ride it out.

It looks like he believed Xi for some reason, or really just didn't give a shit because imbleachment distraction and dem primaries distraction.

SOXLanon? Or that guy who said he was going to sell before november in case trump lost, because the stock market won't go up if trump isn't president?

Turns out neither is an option nor is either necessary. All you had to do was test and trace people in January and February instead of sitting on your great gay white asses, and you would have no problem at all.

If you sell a call, the strike price is what you get per share if the call is assigned. If you sell a put, the strike price is what you pay per share to get the stock.

If you want to collect premium without owning or desiring to own the underlying then you want to do a credit spread.

Very interesting!
https://www.taxtips.ca/abtax/dividendtaxcredit.htm for reference. Your taxes as a whole are amazingly low, but on top of that the dividend tax for non-eligible dividends (e.g. US) are much lower than anywhere else.

You either don't know what daytrading is (for example, maybe you think making one trade every 2 weeks per security is daytrading, when it's very far from it), or you don't know what the fees are ($5-$10 minimum for every trade. Buy and it's up to $10, sell and it's up to $10 for a total of $20 per transaction).
Suppose a 1% per month return, you would therefore need to make $20 * trades + 1/21% per day on average. Suppose a lowball 4 trades a day, that's $80 + 1/21% profit per day. Suppose each trade is a large trade value of $10k (which means, if you're not stupid, that you have $500k-1m total balance), you reach that target only if you pass 14% return exuding fees at the end of the year. That means you lose a whole 2% profit just on fees, and this is assuming you have $1m standing. If you had $100k standing, thus betting $1k per trade, you would need 32.16% end-of-year returns to get only 12% in the bank. So far, we've assumed a ludicrously small trade volume as well, you're not getting even 12% EOY with 4 trades a day. You might as well put everything into SPY and call it a day, and we're assuming far better outcome than 99% of traders get (less than 1% of active day traders are profitable at all).
Sure if you're a magical fairy with oracular powers you can double your money every 5 minutes, but that's not real life.

>> No.18385283

>>18385165
Just to clarify, you would need a per-trade return 100x higher than the numbers discussed so far to achieve and EOY return as listed. So you would need to close not 0.055% profit per trade, but 5.5%, on average, which is about 22% per day, to achieve just 12% in the bank.

Well I was doing way better than 36% before coronavirus and I can do it after coronavirus too. But I don't do that many trades.

>> No.18385380

>>18385338
Right, so you're not daytrading. This is the key: you can position trade, and to a lesser extent, you can swing trade, but daytrading just doesn't work if you're not rich as fuck because every trade needs to be of really high value for this to work, and margins on individual trades intraday are not high enough to cover that.
All assuming, of course, you use the proper tools and aren't going #yolo like the average /smg/ retard.
