it's technically now in an uptrend that has broken out of the previous downtrend's trendline. if you think it's going to sell off, you can either aggressively try to short the top now but have higher risk, or wait for confirmation that it's going lower with a lower swing high and lower swing low. you'd have a higher probability of being right if it enters consolidation in a range (equal highs and equal lows, roughly speaking) and shorting the top, expecting it to reverse.

The second dump only happens when/if the lack of spending of March/April/May causes a ton of defaults on debts (and more bankruptcies than we're already getting). A lot of income has been lost and is going to be lost that the stimulus can't cover. A decline in consumer spending is going to slow down the economy after we end lockdowns, and we'll start slightly falling. Also if it takes months for people to get their jobs back and pay cuts extend further (which they almost certainly will), economy is going to have a lot lower returns and people liquidate.

This isn't anytime soon though, so don't bother trying to be a bear on the general market. And the market isn't the state of the economy, so the market can be fine even if the economy is shit.

again: how old are you? it's important because your 401k or roth IRA long term shit that often gets the company you pay for to match your contribution to it, you can hold on to that, that's fine. coronavirus will probably fuck up shit for at least a year or two, if you can wait 5-10+ years those sorts of investments will be fine. it's the short term investments that this matters for.

in short, it basically measures the average trading range of the past 14 candles on default. it basically measures the average size of a candle. so if the ATR is let's say $0.10, it means on average each candle is trading in a range from high to low of $0.10. theoretically if the price were to move 2x the ATR against you it is probably a break of the trend and you should get out of the trade i.e. you were probably wrong.

the game of trading is about high probability setups, odds, and win%. if you have a 1:1 risk:reward, 50% win rate will leave you at break even and better than that will be proftiable. even a 51$ win rate would be profitable. in a 1:2 risk: reward system, you only have to be right 1 out of 3 times to break even, and anything better than 33.333% is profitable.

Well it might be a bit crazy tomorrow but here's what I think is going to happen.

Futures are going to pump overnight. Then market opens with a pump and shortly after like 10 minutes in there's a pump. The OPEC meeting in the morning will come after that with a huge pump. Then mid-day Mnuchin or Kudlow will come out and say some shit and the markets are gonna pump massively. In the afternoon Trump will have his press conference and markets are going to hate every word of it, so we'll see a 2-3% pump. This will all last until the final 10 minutes of trade and contrary to everyone's expectations it's going to PUMP hard.
