It was supposed to be this currency that you could send without a middleman and in the early days the creator basically thought "Well there's this scaling problem, but I hope it will be solved in the future", but the problem hasn't still been solved. We have already some years ago see a DECLINE in accepting Bitcoin, because when the transactions started rising and thus fees started rising, it was clear that this shit can't be WIDELY used. Currently the whole talk about "digital gold" and bitcoin backed banks and whatever the fuck they invent is just a cope to keep people holding and buying in even though Bitcoin's market cap is at over $100b(a lot of it propped up with shady market making tactics by whales/exchanges). Best bet is to either speculate on shitcoins or buy LINK or Ethereum since they can both either pump on speculation or gain actual value through smart contracts, not just some vague "belief" about some citadel Bicoin banks sidechain plasma future. Personally I'm all in LINK due to the biggest possibility of a speculative bull run and due to the fact that they have the most pragmatic approach to their problem and the nature of the problem they are trying to solve.

The fact is you NEED ETH to create smart contracts and use them on Ethereum. Although without outside data you can't do much even a random number generator inside Ethereum isn't very random and thus can be cracked/predicted. Thanks to Chainlink though there has been some data made available although it's mostly other crypto price data, but there is also data about commodities like gold and silver so you can set up decentralised longing and shorting or whatever it's supposed to be called. That's what the whole "DeFi" is about. I'd like to see shipping and flight data though and weather data since with those you could make more useful contracts like insurance contracts thus actually creating some sort of more "tangible" value rather than "me hold bitcoin me sell higher teehee bitcoin $1m". Going from a market cap of $100m to $10b is one thing, but going from $100b to $10t is a whole 'nother story.
