Are there really no cheeky ways of mining Bitcoin profitably, such as using solar power or something like that? What about generators powered by the now extremely inexpensive gasoline?

The only way I see to beat ASICs is illegal:

spread some sort of computer virus that mines for your pools.

OR

Create a web miner that uses WebGL and whatnot to mine coin. Make a router that injects the miner into every page. Like maybe a pfsense on SBC. put a bunch of these at coffee shops everywhere and make them leech off the free internet with a secondary wifi chip.

^However SSL remains a problem for this. you would need some sort of MITM thing. there would be many forseeable issues.

I watched a cool defcon talk related to this. very interesting but also illegal. and if you look at what your typical indian scammer is doing you would be better off just tricking old people so whatever

or just fork a code every year or so that benefits cpu and gpu miners.

your typical household generators that run on gasoline is not made for running 24/7, for this kind of electricity production you would want something that runs on diesel or if your state law allows on heating oil.
Thiet Diesel Stromerzeuger 50 kVA = 12.000USD

But realistically you are just a 16y old faggot that is too dumb to calculate simple economics question as to how cheap fuel needed to be to operate your own generator.

nigg you think that warehouse is stacked out with Pentium 4's?

you buy your $5000 3.5kw asic that makes .10c a day. its probaly inferior to their tech anyway.
in 6 month they will likely upgrade their tech again making yours even more obsolete and chipping away at that .10
your only hope is that the meagre slither of a buttcoin you mine moons and you actually get an ROI

why? assuming the hashrate stays same cloud mining is pretty profitable. you let mine for 5-8k per bitcoin

this although the mitm attack is fairly easy, SSL can be done however who gives a fuck?
the normie tries to browse facecuck and gets an error, either continues anyway or goes elewhere.
half the time they wont actually fully close their browser so as long as they are connected its all good.

I just typed a big long reponse about what I think the problem would be with MITM (namely with fingerprinting issues and JS fuckery). then i pressed f5 by accident and deleted it.

But it's not really important. What's important is that the easier way is to make an insecure LAN with one of those web login portals, and run the miner off that. this would be a lot easier because the login portals are supposed to be injected. Then you just have something saying "keep this page open" on the miner/login page, and disconnect them if the miner doesn't send out a heartbeat.

You could also interfere with the connection it's leeching off of. blocking other users from using the coffee shop's connection it's feeding off of.

also, I think you underestimate the power of the big red warning sign that browsers put in when SSL fails.
