Getting to that point. Not finished dicking around in the clown world mud pit. Might not be the bottom, but at this point I think you could pick something that isn't going anywhere and grab like 10% of your portfolio's worth a week on any good dips. This market is literally impossible to predict. Chinese shell companies, AMC is now literally the walking dead. Zombie market. Only thing I predict is long term distrust of Chinese, but did anyone have great faith in them before?

Most of the oil memers in /smg/ are hoping to making THEM BIG SICK GAINS based on price memory for shale. Saudis still have the oil market by the balls as its literally their entire existence.
Oil will go up, but only once shale is dead. XON, CHV, BP, etc. are the only smart plays. You aren't going to get more than 2x returns off those, and it'll take awhile. But it'll be better than holding onto worthless stocks for energy companies in Texas or Midwest.

How will home security fair in this market?
On one hand, people are home all day, don't need it. But also more people or out of work, so more crime? But When you go to the grocery store you don't bring your kid anymore so you might want a nanny cam.

That and baby sitting/child care. This puts them both in a state of needing less but potentially wanting more.

wha?

I'm not sure about the broader real estate market, but I do think the government is LIKELY too incompetent to prevent a lot of margin calls for the REITs, which is why I'm still holding some DRV. Not enough though, I exited too much of my short positions today.

>>18256863
Yeah that's a part of the thesis, but really it's that these properties are bought on margin and if the property drops in value enough that the bank deems it no longer worth enough to be sufficient collateral then they'll call in the loan and the REIT is liquidated.

Or something like that? Someone help me out here?

>and I make more money in the long term where exactly is the issue?

the part where you make more money in the long term despite crisis conditions, schlomo. i mean at the end of the day i understand, though. i stopped feeling bad about making money from day trading a long time ago after realizing that the little guy will always get fucked over by The Man no matter what. all you can really hope for is to be on the side of The Man instead of the side of the little guy. it's still shitty but so is making hundreds if not thousands of dollars a day sitting on my ass hitting a green button and then a red button or a red button and then a green button. not really fair compared to some guy digging ditches for min. wage but that's life, apparently. either fuck or get fucked.

like... ideally, i hate you. but practically, good job bro. if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. it just sucks the world works this way, but i realized you can't fix it so you might as well learn how to take advantage of it instead of being taken advantage of.

Cruise lines are some of the most unethical businesses on the planet. Hugely destructive environmentally, hire heaps of illegals and make them work like 90 hour weeks, they are also floating petri dishes notorious for spreading disease even before all this corona shit happened

that would be a fair point, but those two industries have enormous sway in politics, and really do make the world a worse place for it

>If the market craters over the next few days and CCL drops 15-20% will you really buy it?
Fuck yes, as I said, if they believe that rhe recent stock and bond issue is enough money to last to 2021, they're already back at full booking then. They'll come out of this with a ton of debt, but they were pretty low debt going into it. Not enough of a burden to justify 1/5th to a 1/10th the price.

>You were better off buying one of the bonds they issued
Yeah when Robinhood creates a retail level corporate bond debt app let me know.

Nah, most CA cities are too spread out for it to get to extreme levels. You can already see this happening in Seattle where despite being the first city hit, because of how wide the city is it has been way easier to control the spread of bat aids. I suspect LA county and the Bay Area will get hard (especially the homeless), but lower population density and general health of californians outside of those two areas will probably be fine.

On another note, I suspect Texas will be the best off because all the population centers are widely spread apart and the cities themselves are extremely wide.

neither country (India and China) is capable of sustaining a war across the Himalayan mountains. They've been trying, in the form of small border skirmishes, for decades now. It doesn't usually get reported on in a big way internationally. Any territory gained cannot be adequately held, cause the supply lines are horrible to maintain

Modi's MO has been to turn a blind eye to race riots against non-hindus (i think always muslims, but I may be wrong) to foster unity among the majority ethnicity. We'll probably see more of that if Corona hits India hard, but not a war with China.

Why should I not make more money in the long-term? It's not even alot. I slaved my fucking backside off digging those same fucking ditches you seem to think are so god damn menial to build my capital.
You haven't done a day's worth of hard work in you fucking life, and have had everything handed to you.
This system brought me out of fucking poverty I was raised in you mong. Yea I don't understand all of it but I fucking know it works and it's cunts like you who have been handed everything and get to sit there on their fucking high horse pontificating about the moralities of rent seeking and justifying their actions by believing the world is evil and I must myself be evil to get ahead that make me sick. You are the same sort of cunt that would make your money collect you shekels and pull the ladder up behind you. You know what my tenants did when I can to them with my proposal, they fucking thanked me. Because I have been one of them.
